Egyptian cartoonists strike back at Denmark

The Syndicate of Egyptian cartoonists decided that they would respond to the danish cartoons by making their own cartoons on what happend. They were done in order to- and I quote- " as a response to those who fell under the thrall of racism, forgery and crime", and were printed in a 2 page spread in Al Fagr newspaper, probably as a way to redeem the fact that they were the ones who first published the danish cartoons last October . Here they are:

The newspaper edition that had the spread

The spread, titled: "A counter-attack from the egyptian cartoonists stars against the danish cartoons."

The EU, shown as an agressive european stabbing with a pen a defensless arab in the heart.

Danish cartoonist drawing the prophet, while what seems to be a lie detector attached to him and the paper chart showing the word "lies" repeatedly.

Self explanatory: The muslim world being bombed by drawing pencils.

The Danish cartoonists drawing his cartoon in the toilet. And indication that he is full of shit.

The ref-representing the egyptian people (the crescent and cross union is an old egyptian political unity symbol) giving the Danish and Norwegian Press the Red card.

A cartoon showing Islam as a flower being waterd by an angel, and when the evil people (note the "jewish nose"; egyptians in cartoons and books always protray jews with croocked noses) tried to step on the hose, it sprayed blood all over them. There is a Koranic verse on the bottom that looosely translates to "They tried to plot against Islam so we made them lose/fail".

Another cartoonist and Toilet cartoon, this time showing the toilet on top of the cartoonist brain, thus making his brain -you guessed it- full of shit.

A cartoon showing danish products as a pig, and has an isncribtion that says "Boycotting the danish products is the duty of every muslim"

Ahh, an anti semetic cartoon finally. This one showing the danish cartoonists- with snakes playing in his brain to emphasis evil and intention to harm- drawing the cartoons while being paid by the evil demonic jews (notice the star of david on the head?).

Self-explanatory: Islam is a dove that gets stabbed by a cartoonists pen and wondeirng in shock: WHY?

I don't need to explain this one.

A rat with the word racism inscribed on it in arabic eating away at a big piece of cheese that symbolizes denmark. Notice the Jyland Posten issue next to it.

The Final and my favorite one: Another Anti semetic cartoon, showing a pig drawing the cartoon while saying saracsticly: "What is it? What's wrong? You never heard of something called Freedom of Expression? Hahahahahahaha". Please note the star of david hanging on the wall behind him.

Guess we are not letting this one go for a long long time!

Suk. Those are really pathetic — “Everyone is racist except us — let’s draw some blood-dripping jewish pigs”. I agree with #3 that they are an insult to Egyptian muslims. The sad part is that they don’t see it.

  9. Uffe Says:

Those drawings remind me of the good old Soviet-style cartoons in Pravda.

I rather liked the one showing our queen as a belly-dancer, it was printed in several Danish newspapers.

Well, I better go and torch the egyptian embassy ;-)

  10. PRODOS Says:

These dumb cartoons reinforce what the world is, hopefully, already starting to see: That these fools can’t tell the difference between debate and violence. They are terrified of debate, dissent, and any challenge to their beliefs. In fact, of any challenge to their arrogance.

If the use of a pencil can be treated as equivalent to an act of violence, then this can be used to justify/rationalize an ACTUAL physically violent response.

    Best Wishes,

  11. Nerro Says:

What would I say…so irritating…shows how busy are they watching the grass grow

  12. J.Doe Says:

It seems like a response from a bunch of 5 year olds.,but what’s with the anti-semitic cartoons?
Were the cartoonists in Denmark even Jewish? Or is everything that is ‘wrong’ in this world a fault of jews? They would have to have incredible powers to control everything in the world so it could be their fault

  13. Jen Says:

Ok, that one with Islam dove was truly funny. I laughed heartily.

    “WHY?!” (sobbing, rending garments…lol)

  14. nomad Says:

out of the purpose of thees drawings, it’s a pity that 2 of them could have been of a good facture, may-be, the “artist” need to earn some money

  15. carib Says:

Actually, I dont mind rebuttal cartoons. Thats freedom of speech and thats fine( though I am not a fan of the the anti Jewism.) Its the embassy burning and the death threats that I cant abide.
If we just stick to cartoon wars, for and against, I’m happy.

  16. RocketRay Says:

What is it they’ve got against pigs? Just cause you’re not supposed to eat pork doesn’t mean pigs are evil. Sheesh.

I hereby order everyone in muslim countries to see “Babe”.

  17. Veto Says:

I call for a meeting in front of the Egyptian embassy in Copenhagen tonight: Bring violent behaviour, signs saying “Behead those whos say danes are agressive”, and some petrol…

    Lets get this war rolling!!!

  18. Prup (aka Jim Benton) Says:

At least the Danes came up with one cartoon that was actually funny, the ‘we’re running out of virgins’ one. These are much nastier and without a hint of actual humor. But I agree that I at least find them a decent way of responding to the idiocy, despite the anti-Semitism.

  19. Don Singleton Says:

Egyptian cartoonists strike back at Denmark

I don’t really see much humor in these cartoons, but then I did not see much humor in the Danish ones. However this is a much more civilized way to respond.

  20. Chip Says:

JIHAD! I’M GOING TO DESTROY THE EGYPTIAN EMBASSY!

  22. Max Says:

Pathetic, idiotic, childish, ugly, non artistic, and most of all: not funny! why don’t moslems just let go of this most ridiculous battle and get a life?

  23. ChristineM Says:

Actually one of them is quite funny! - I wonder if the cartoonist knows what the headline says on the JP that he used?? “Massive support for Denmark” Probably not… :-)

  24. Mike Says:

I suspect that the reason the cartoons are so important is the high levels of illiteracy in the middle east.

  25. Ateist Says:

Sandmonkey: “Notice the Jyland Posten issue next to it.”

And ironically the headline says, “Massive support to Denmark”.

Thanks for presenting and translating those cartoons.

“Guess we are not letting this one go for a long long time! ”

No! A religious group that holds a grudge? C’mon, you’re kidding, right?

Holding a grudge goes against the ideas of love, tolerance and acceptance THAT ALL RELIGIONS practice and teach, doesn’t it? If a grudge is held against others, despite the obvious message of one’s religious tenents, doesn’t that make the followers something other than religious faithfuls?

I can think of a better description. Can you?

(Hint: It starts with an “H” and rhymes with “have a fit”)

  27. Scratch Says:

I’m sure Sandmonkey’s aunt is saying “I told you so” right about now (if not sooner). How they don’t see this as totally retarded is beyond my understanding.

  28. Michelle Rene Says:

  40. Rune Says:

As a Dane I can say those cartoons enrage and insult me to no end! …or something

    ..duh

No really. It’s pretty insulting how lousy they are. At least they could have put some effort in it! I demand the Egypt apologise for the awful quality of their insulting cartoons! And I’d like the UN to look into this.

  41. Axel Olsen Says:

Thanks, Sandmonkey - great job. I´m a Dane and if these clowns meant to insult me, they´ve failed. What they display is just their own ignorance, prejudice and stupidity - and who´s surprised? Islam has turned the land of the Pharaohs and an ancient, refined culture into yet another failed state exporting hatred, terrorism, refugees and little else. If they had any talent AND a brain, they would mock the oppressors amongst themselves, but see if these cowards would think of that.

  42. shamoussa Says:

  43. Nelle Says:

I wonder if anyone in the middle east considers the last situation in which the Danish fired shots in anger?

Answer? 1999.Kosovo airspace. Shooting down “Christian” Serbian Mig29’s in order to protect Muslim Kosovans. The Danish Allies? USA & UK.

  46. K from Oslo Says:

Talk to the hand cause the face aint listnin’, talk to the elbow cause the hand aint worth it….:D

  47. Canadienne Errante Says:

Except for the anti-Semitism, these cartoons are the first appropriate response to the Danish cartoons. (And I found the shocked, shocked dove hilariously naive, too.) If only the Turkish boy who shot the Catholic priest twice in the back had worked out his rage by drawing an insulting cartoon instead!

Now, let Egypt watch the West chuckle at the insulting cartoons and continue about their business unperturbed (perhaps after sending a cheque to their local Jewish anti-defamation league).

  48. vantage Says:

Hrmmm, most of these cartoons are inane, but a few made me chuckle a bit… As a dane, though I have to protest and demand an immediate apology for the inexcusable lack of quality of the drawings, most schoolkids can do better than that, is that really all the Egyptian Cartoonists can muster, in that case Egypt will soon be defeated in the Battles of Khartoon….

  49. Paul Says:

Perhaps this is how the cartoon war should be fought–with pens, not bombings and embassey burnings.

All things considered though, I think the best ones are 1) The pig-of-doom and 2) Dove-hunting with pens.

    Why do you ask?

It’s the art. Except for those two, the art is pretty lackluster–especially on the full-of-shit cartoons. The line work on the evil pig drawing is pretty good.

And I love the expression on the dove’s face

  50. elengil Says:

I wonder if anyone will notice the Dutch not burning down Egyptian embassies?
    hm.

  51. Shanester Says:

Now will the Danes riot in the street? Hmmm… Didn’t think so. Too bad they won’t rise up and riot and burn down everything owned by Muslims. That would show them how stupid this is. But, the Danes are civilized and won’t do such a thing.

  52. Lars Says:

OK, I am Danish so I guess I should do something. Burning a Swiss flag and an Argentinian embassy seems to be the way to deal with this…. hmm, neither are in reach, guess I’ll just have to ignore it then.

  53. tommi atkins Says:

Shallow danish! have you forgotton the directions of the secular religion “Burger King” and his apostle Barney. GO forth and hit Cairo schools with wave after wave of bomb clad resistance fighters.

But in probibility. Thats not going to happen. Thank Barney (PBUH)

  54. Anne Marie Says:

Well I guess I have to burn something, and since I don’t have an Egyptian flag laying around, would it suffied to burn a cigaret as a symbol for Egypt? And it’s to cold to stand outside the Egyptian embassy and shout at the moment. Besides, if everything is to follow plan, it should be warmer when I finally react sometime in July.

    Oh … I forgot, I’ve stopped smoking.

    Yet a Dane.

  55. Bob Perrow Says:

Wow, I was so offended at your cartoons that I forgot to yawn!!

Seriously now, is your god so small that he needs a mindless bunch of zealots to do his will?

  56. InfidelDane Says:

I actually like the rat-and-cheese cartoon: it has some point. Sadly, the vermin of racism is eating into the cheese of our people. Or maybe it’s just collective fear.
On another note, these cartoons show a lot about the mind-set of Egyptians (evil jooooz behind every evil) as did the Danish cartoons; believe it or not, they were adressing domestic affairs.

What really saddens me is “us” still being collectively hated: When can I visit wonderful Egypt without fearing for my life ?

agree with Anne Marie: let’s wait ’til July before we torch the Egyptian embassy, and demand an apology from Pres. Mubarak

And what about the opression of Palestinians? I’m just curious…

  66. Hadeel Says:

I guess what I was trying to say is: do you feel that by writing the way you do, you paint all Muslims with the same brush of terrorism or stupidity as you say Muslims paint all Jews with the “taking over the world” idiocy?

  70. Patrick Says:

I had been increasingly proud to be Egyptian. What with winning the ANC, and then having unbelievable economic growth, the Sawirises buying up all these companies, and getting ourselves closer to Israel and becoming a true force for peace. And then I look at the last cartoon reprint and the story of NOman Gomaa, and I realize we have such a long way to go. We have so much potential, Egyptians are the fucking brains behind the entire Arab Middle East.

  71. JordanR Says:

Once again, Egyption SandMonkey makes history! Without his efforts, this important story would NEVER make it to the main streem press. Kudos!

“And what about the opression of Palestinians? I’m just curious… ”

Which oppression are you reffering to? The oppression in Lebenon where Palestinians are forced into camps, the oppression in Kuwait where 300,000 were kicked out for supporting Sadam, the wars/oppression in Jordan and Syria or the oppression in the West Bank and Gaza where Hamas teaches kids to become suicide bombers and glorifies terrorism with wall-to-wall posters?

The only oppression that matters is the one that involves jooooooz. When Arabs fight with Palestinians no one gives a rat’s ass!

G-d help the Arab world if the Palestinian cause is ever resolved. Then how are they going to blame all their problems on a country the size of New Jersey?

They got it wrong with that pencil bombing. At each pencil-bomb is attached at least one 500€ bill from the EU-govermnment.

That’s why some folks there (like the palestinian) are so fertile. They just chased out about 3/4 million palestinians in the 1970s and now they got back about 5 time as much into Israel. How can that be?

Indeed no. But they are offending human intelligence, my sense of humor - they are an offence to the notion of “cartoon” itself…

  86. doubledip Says:

The ultimate facial, IMO, would be for Jyllands-Posten to take these Egyptian cartoons and publish them in their newspaper. The world can then see these racist, pathetic attempts at tit-for-tat as they are and witness the much-more civil responses to them by the non-Muslims being caricatured, as well as shut the mouths of those who cry “double standard” on the part of J-P.

Deepening, of course, the worldwide embarassment the Muslim world is already mired in….

  87. ScoozMee Says:

I think that the Egyptian cartoonists might well be deserving of one of our Brain Donor Awards. ( http://www.scoozmee.com/bda.html ) but while the fracking morons are fighting with the pen and not the sword or bombs, let’s not discourage them - All power to the pen !

It requires a mind to make best use of one. In the wrong hands, it’s a tool of suicide. At least this kind of suicide doesn’t hurt the kafirs and infidels.

  89. Defector Says:

Yes we will get back at those evil Danes who offend the religion of the prophet and we will do it by calling them Jews and portraying them as Pigs and evil Jews with big crooked noses. Ha ha ha! That will teach them to offend the prophet Muhammad

    ………………..uh yeah

  90. Astro Says:

So if I understand the last cartoon right, our evil Jewish plan is to curse them with freedom of speech? Are they afraid we’re going to turn them all into bloggers?

  91. Hadeel Says:

danish person - what i meant is that i find (and i haven’t read all archives) sandmonkey criticizes muslims for being Jew-hating, Holocaust-denying filth who all believe evil originated in the west. so he criticizes muslims for painting all the west/Jews with the same brush of evil, but he does so by painting all Muslims with the same terror-ridden Jew-hating brush…

not sure if i’m making sense, but it’s sad that people are so full of hate on this blog. saying things like islam originated down a toilet… wow. i unequivocally condemn crazy muslims who blow things up… and i am a practicing Muslim. and on what basis do people say “if you believe in the quran” then you’re a potential terrorist. anyone with ignorance and a deep-rooted acceptance of their ignorance is even more harmful to others.

  92. InfidelDane Says:

Hadeel: please do not fall into the trap of painting w/the large brush as others do ..Lots of Danes are very scared at the moment, and cannot distinguish btwn the individual Muslim and Islam as such.

As a Dane I am deeply ashamed of the ignorance and anger displayed here. And there are places worse than this (as there are Muslim sites filled with hate)

Sandmonkey is a voice of sanity, he does not bash Islam, only far-out Muslims.

  93. danish person Says:

    Hi Hadeel.

I will not talk for Sandmonkey. What I understand is that he questions the “blaming of the Jews” tendency as seen with the JPs cartoons that suddently targets the Jews. And he condemn terror just like you. He provides with others a diverse view on muslims and the arabic world for someone like me.

I think I understand a least a little of what you say about the brush. I have - as a danish citizen - felt how it is to be judged by the acts of someone else. The JP cartoons were seen as a conspiracy and my country was blamed for what a newspaper did. Just a little hint of the painting with the same brush as you describe.
It’s now very clear to me that there is a difference between “polical” Islam and “moderate” muslims. Not moderate in the sense that they don’t believe or practise. But there is a clear difference between believing and practising muslims and muslims wanting and cooperating with foreign countries to force a change of laws according to their beliefs.
I think that reporting the JP cartoons for blasphemy and taking the newspaper to the court is the right thing to do.
But living in Denmark and cooperating with foreign states? That’s not OK.

I don’t ask people about their religion. I don’t expect to be asked about my religion. I respect people for being humans, for being decent and for contributing to the community we live in together. The fact that you write like you do on this blog starts a communication and makes me respect your opinion as a human. In my opinion it’s the way to start to challenge the ignorance.

Some readers on this blog leave very negative comments about Islam and muslims. I have been surfing other blogs in the ME and I must say that there is equal if not more hate and ignorance towards “the West”.

Drawings of artists drawing caricatures of Mohammed (albeit visibily obscure) are also blasphemous, no? How detail must a caricature of Mohammed have to be offensive?

So this is what arabians call tolerance? I’m glad we are not down at their level. They talk so much about their great history. It is actually sad that the stones they used to build their history with, are the same stones they throw at other nations buildings and citizens. That’s their way of respect for their own history.

actually this cartoon issue is making my life easier, instead of the reading the freakin koran “the terrorist instruction manual” and psychotic sunni books, to write and expose this twisted cult, muslims reactions and violence speak out instead of me, sadly muslims don’t read their islamic books, they hardly read at all, if they read their own fuc**** books they’d see the discription of their prophet according again to their own fuc**** books and thank the cartoonists that they drew him way better looking.

i will state mohammed’s discription according to hadith books with proof from saudi arabia’s website of the ministry of islamic realtions of da’wa and irshad that documented his biograohy.

1- mohammed was a peroxide strawberry blond, a fake blond! he used to dye his grey hair red with henna till he died in his 60’s, i want u to imagine the orange redish color of hena on originally grey hair and it’s terrifying glow, isn’t he a fashion victim or what?
it didn’t stop there he also ordered all the muslims to change their hair color to red when they grow old so they wouldn’t look like the christians and the jews when they grow old!! as stupid as this sounds that’s what islamic books state>> http://www.al-eman.com/Islamlib/viewchp.asp?BID=185&CID=14

2- mohammed used to wear aisha’s dresses!! oh yeah, and i wonder how he wore them! he married her when she was six, yeah that’s right six, and he died when she was 18 so they must have been pretty tight showing all his curves and shit, ewwww. and here is my proof>> http://hadith.al-islam.com/Display/Display.asp?hnum=2393&doc=0

3- mohammed used to wear eye-liner 3 times a day!! and here is my proof from muslim’s islamic biography of mohammed as well>> http://hadith.al-islam.com/Display/Display.asp?Doc=5&Rec=4849

4- mohammed used to WAX HIS ASS! oh yeah that’s what i said wax his ass, guess where is it published? in a saudi arabian website that documented his biography i wanna hear a muslim bitching about the homosexuallity in the evil west. and there’s my proof>> http://www.al-eman.com/Islamlib/viewchp.asp?BID=185&CID=14

5- mohammed had very fair skin on his thighs, how do i know? his boyfriends stated it in his biography too!! >> http://hadith.al-islam.com/Display/Display.asp?Doc=1&Rec=5672

i guess the muslims ought to appologize to demark and thank the cartoonists for drawing him looking like a man!!

if this isn’t the discription of a flamboyant drag queen diva then what the hell is???!!
