YAY Socialism

Ahh, Bolivia, every socialist wet dream coming true to life, thanks to Morales :

Bolivia's leftist government said Tuesday it would extend control over
mining, forestry and other sectors of the economy after President Evo
Morales nationalized the country's huge natural gas industry. Foreign
governments warned relations could be damaged.

Soldiers were posted at 56 gas installations around the country a
day after Morales issued a decree that analysts say could drive
petroleum companies from South America's poorest nation and isolate
Bolivia from important allies like Brazil and Spain.

"We're not expelling any company, but they will not earn much — not
like before," Morales told Venezuela's Telesur on Tuesday. "We hope
they'll remain partners and if they don't respect these laws, we'll
make them respect them with political force."

So, you are basically telling those companies who invested in your piss-ant country that they shouldn't make the profit that they earned on their investment, only what you think they should have, and if they don't like it you will force them to do it at the point of a gun. Talk about encouraging growth.

Morales said Monday that the gas decree "was just the beginning,
because tomorrow it will be the mines, the forest resources and the
land." Morales' planning minister earlier this month spoke of plans for
"drastic reforms" of mining laws.

They will nationalize the land as well? Goodbye property rights.

On Tuesday, Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera said mining companies
could face higher taxes and royalty payments and that the government
will intensify enforcement of existing laws to break up big
underdeveloped land holdings, apparently to turn them over to the poor.

Ahh yes. How very alturistic,. Steal from a group of people and give them to a bigger group of people whose only virtue is that they are poor. Now that's moral. That's how you become a popular leader and make the majority of your people love you. Commit theft and share the spoils. As long as you are stealing from those who have more than them, they will generally not mind, unless they do have an understanding of right and wrong, but really, who does these days?

How do people justify this shit in their heads? How is it anyone's right to steal my property just because he doesn't have any? By what right? Because they need it? So their need superceeds my right? What kind of immoral bullshit is that? And how do they get to call themselves the "good guys"?

Whatever..

I think the oil companies should remove all the equipment and tear everything down and leave. Let Evo “Humpty Dumpty” Morales figure out how to put it all back together. Especially with a paucity of skilled technicians a shitty little rathole like Bolivia.

Because “you” stole it - “you” have no rights on it.
It’s very similar to the case of Israel and Palestine…

  7. eee Says:

But - if you want to help the Bolivians - do you know more
about the country than its name? - then let your pharao redirect
his bribes - he get’s from the US for the sake of Israel - to Bolivia.

eee, who was talking about Israel right now? we are talking regualr property rights here. And if you are from the idiotic school of “all property is theft” than you can not reeally argue against the Israeli occupation of palestine, because guess what? According to your theory, no one has the right to the land, and anyone who claims to is stealing it. Is that what you believe in, or are you just being an idiot?

  11. eee Says:

    > we are talking regualr property rights here.

Really? What means “regular” when you can simply buy policemen, judges
or members of the parliament or government?

You - living in/coming from egypt - don’t know, what corruption means?

    > And if you are from the idiotic school of “all property is theft”

    I wouldn’t go that far.

    > than you can not reeally argue against the Israeli occupation of palestine,
    > because guess what? According to your theory, no one has the right to the

    Not anyone, but everybody.
But unfortunately the jewish master race claims, that everything they
managed to steal or rob belongs to them.

    > Is that what you believe in, or are you just being an idiot?

Oh I’m just another idiot in this blog. Welcome.

Thanks for calling my country a piss-ant country.

No one ever said that the companies should not gain a return on their investment. Why should the oil companies be able to set the price of oil and gas and sell it at 10 times the profit? Yes, Bolivians were the ones that signed these terrible contracts that these companies jumped at, but these presidents never looked out for the interests of the people. These new contracts will still allow for the oil companies to receive plenty of profit, not at these record high profits that we are all suffering through.

The land redistribution is already written into law long before MAS came into power. The land that will be targeted will be the large properties that are not in use and were given illegally to wealthy landowners by the military dictatorships. Decrees were issued granting thousands of hectares of the best land to a handful of families.
