Alaa Prison blogging

I don;t think this has ever happend before, but we have someone blogging from Prison, and it's our own Alaa . Don't ask me how, but I think they have access to computers in jail now Alaa wrote the post by hand, and his friends got it out and posted it for him, so yeah. He seems in high spirits, and they seem to have left him unharmed so far, so that's good to hear. That means the campaign has been successful so far.

I think that makes him the first Prison blogger in the world, no?

SM, are you trying to destroy the reputation of Egyptian detention facilities in the outside world or what?!

You surrender your underwear before entering such a facility, yabny.

[...] Egyptian blogger Alaa is jailed, the Egyptian government starts watching Sandmonkey, and forces crack down on pro-reform demonstrations. I’m worried for Sandmonkey. Lots of details and pictures of the demonstration crackdown at his site. Just keep scrolling. Alaa sends a message from prison, here. (Sandmonkey says, “Alaa wrote the post by hand, and his friends got it out and posted it for him.”) Be careful, Egyptian bloggers! [...]

    Prison Blogging

Alaa is blogging from prison, with a little help from his friends (who are legion).

No it does not make him the first prison blogger I think there are a few American ones blogging from prison. But he is the first Egyptian true. thanks for the link and for what you are doing Sandmonkey, I am now seriously afraid for your security yabni - you do have guts .

I ‘m optimistic that this showdown will turn into something positive , I do hope that no one gets killed in the process but I do think that there will be a lot of victims before the tide turns . However you are aware Sandmonkey that the MB may just become the future leaders in Egypt don’t you ?

I’m going to post this comment in your top post as well , just in case you miss it here.

  9. eee Says:

Awful, they let the terrorists ans stooges of the MB talk to the public?

Where are you oh pharao, when we need you so much?!

  10. Chip Says:

It’s still terrible, but this is the best news I’ve heard in some time.

I don’t know what to say about mainstream media coverage of what’s going on in Egypt because there’s so little. We’re obsessed with phone numbers and look like we will be for some time.

It’s really cool being an American. You can pretend you have big problems with your government when you don’t really have any. Nobody beats you up or jails you for your views. But they MIGHT, SOME DAY, and that’s WRONG! So we complain about things before they happen with no actual examples of the wrongs we complain about.

You’re bigger than any other news outlet on this story, Sandmonkey. Good job as usual.

How can you be sure that the content of that letter is authentic and represents Alaa’s true centiments…

Not to be -ve, but he is in prison. Recently we witnessed people saying how well they were treated under terrorist care… untill they escaped that is.
