She might get her dutch citizenship revoked cause she apparently lied on her assylum application. Hmmm….

Yep, she lied during the asylum-procedure and during the naturalisation-procedure.
And according to a new Dutch law, created and passed by one of her mentors Rita Verdonk of the rightist VVD, she is no longer entitled to have the Dutch citizinship.
May 16th, 2006 at 9:04 am
She is coming to the States fortunately.
I think she has a position with the right-wing think tank, the American Enterprise Institute.
May 16th, 2006 at 9:31 am
That’s true.
That even angered the Dutch.
She refused a position at the John Hopkins university because they couldn’t pay her enough, so she went working with the ‘neoconservative, orthodox-christian’ enemy. ( according to the Dutch tv)
Most people feel betrayed because she came out to be a opportunistic politician as first and a activist as second.
May 16th, 2006 at 9:46 am
For an opportunist I would say she sure takes a lot of risks.
Furthermore, the American Enterprise Institute is hardly a very Christian organization. It is basically neo-con, but the idea that it is particularly religious is nothing more than liberal Dutch media spin.
Too bad you can’t revoke the citizenship of the guy who killed Theo van Gogh instead. The Dutch unfortunately cannot face the reality of the jihadists living among them. Due to multiculturalism and political correctness, the issue cannot even be brought up in an honest fashion.

@ Tommy
at this moment you get electorally punished if you are politically correct or pro-multiculturalism.
That explains the rise of rightist Rita Verdonk and ultra-nationalists like Geert Wilders and also the change of voice of the social-democrats.
Ayaan was in fact politically ‘murdered’ by the same people who are tough on immigration, anti-multiculti and far from politically correct.
She was also a victim of an intern political battle within her own party.
People already tried to advice and convince her to keep on bringing up the islam-issue but within the set boundaries of ‘lobbying The Hague’.
If not she would be sacrificed by her own party.
And it came out as true.
The killer of Theo van Gogh is probably gonna lose his nationality as well. He is banned for voting, standing for election, opening a bankaccount, going to college etc etc. And some leading christian-democrats and liberals want to pass a law that’s gonna make him lose his citizenship.
May 16th, 2006 at 10:49 am
This is shame for the Netherlands!
May 16th, 2006 at 12:01 pm
Ayaan just gave an emotional press conference.
She criticized the conservative policy of her own party, which expells asylumseekers when they lie about their birthyear, name or personal refugee-story.
It’s disproportional according to Ayaan and not fair.
May 16th, 2006 at 1:13 pm
She did not only lie about her birth date apparently, she lied about her marriage being under duress and arranged without her consent, the central fact of her asylum application. That’s a pretty big lie.
May 16th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
tommy suggests that killers should lose their citizenship. ok so let us start with the IRA militants who killed 3500 people then ETA militants who killed 1000 people. The list should also include the killer of Pim Fortuyn. If the citizenship rights of these killers are sacred while those of Theo van Gogh killers are not then what you imply is that there should be two different grades of citizenship or that killing is not as shocking when the one who kills is a white Christian.

Anna, I agree with you. In fact I posted on my blogs a total repudiation of my previous feeling of her as a hero. (It was not just the lies, but if you check out her blog, she continues to run articles describing her as a ‘refugee from an arranged marriage.’ She also runs a poll claiming that 98% of the respondents ‘don’t think less of her’ because of her lies — without mentioning that before the LGF site ‘encouraged’ their readers to support her, and got, pparently 8000 votes for her, the vote had been 75-25 AGAINST her.)
I’m sorry, most of you know I probably agree with many of her positions, but truth matters, and she has, apparently, little concern for it.
I also find someone capable of applying simultaneously to AEI and Brookings, as she reportedly did, to have rather elastic principles in other ways.
May 16th, 2006 at 4:36 pm
Amgad,
I would be more than happy to revoke citizenship rights for IRA members. That is a good idea. We probably can’t deport them any more than we can deport the killer of Theo van Gogh, but I don’t think they should have the right to vote or any other rights reserved for citizens.
Prup,
She is still sticking by her story that she was forced into an arranged marriage.

Libyan,
You do realize that it is the Dutch who are getting rid of Hirsi Ali not the Danish, right?
May 16th, 2006 at 5:08 pm
Whats up tommy?
Dont try to make sense of the post.

[...] And others just referring to other sources such as Sandmonkey, others pointing to the position of her party (VVD) that has a very firm standpoint on migration (…and lying), but not everyone in that party is very glad with that view in this case, others stating that she has some strange supporters. Some people think it might backfire to Dutch minister Verdonk. During the debate in parliament it has become clear that there is room for reconsidering the withdrawal of Hirsi Ali’s Dutch nationality or even a new request for naturalization with a shorter procedure. So there is room for negotations and solutions. [link] [...]

Actually, that move, even if not the most enjoyable one for Aayan, will probably turn out for the best for her, and for the rest of the world. Dutch are not bad guys, and are not good guys. They are just guys. Aayan should have left for US long time ago. Holland is a very boring country. Everithing is average. They have legal (not really, just tolerated) pot and prostitution, but that does not make a country less boring. It is very average. Everybody earns the same, lives in similar houses, belives in similar ideas. When Einstein contenplated moving to University of Leiden (same one where Aayan graduated), someone (I can’t remember who) told him “You will live a very confortable life, and nobody will hear about you ever again.” Dutch don’t like excitment in their lives. Aayan does not fit in dutch society. Lucky for the rest of us, she did not want to conform to dutch way of life, and decided to move to US. There she will be able to rattle the cage as mutch as she wants, and the cage has to be rattled.
Anyway, Simon Kuper did amazing job of analyzing dutch mentality in his book about football in holland in WWII, Ajax, the Dutch, the War. Or in original title, Ajax, the Jews, the Netherlands. There is a free shortened translation for free online http://www.ajax-usa.com/history/kuper/ but I recommend buying the book.

actually, many countries have provisions saying that can withdraw citizenship if you lied in a material way to get it, either through immigration or asylum. it’s standard practice. lying as to the BASIS of your refugee claim is huge.

Hello Mr. Libayan
We shouldn’t buy European goods (Danish Good or Dutch) unless they (the Dutch) deport Ayan Hirshi Magan back to Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, for caning and stoning.
If she isn’t caned or stoned to death in Mogadishu, Ayan will be made to realise that the kafirs (i.e Christians) will not be satisfied by simply saying you are an atheist or secular (Ilmani). They (the Kafirs) want you to say you are converting to Christinity and to serously start going to the church.

i think ayan has 4gotten the purpose of creation she talks ill regarding the revalation the creator and the prophet what an ignorrant person who has no fear for Allahs punishment such will not be under the (arsh) shade of allah in the day where no mankind certanly not the danish security force will be of any assistance ,may Allah save us from the punishment of hell, making remarks and judging others beliefs is ludicrious especially if you have proof and knowlege , there is a punishment and a price to pay for such acts
November 17th, 2006 at 9:42 pm
Tayriq, I agree with you in that sense, she is going to be punished in life and the life after her death. What she did was horrible and very ludicrious. After reading this block, I learned that she is coming to United States and of course they are going to grant a citizenship, very funny, let’s see of where she ends up.

Obviously Europe would never do that, so whatever leverage you propose to use is meaningless. But a Somali boycott of European products? I can’t imagine that having much of an impact.
