Some bloggers released, Alaa and Droubi still detained

The government has released a 5 of the original48 detained, amongst them  the 3 bloggers: Malek, Sharkawy and Mohamed Adel. No word yet on when Alaa or Droubi or any of the other detainees are supposed to get released. The regime arrested about 600 protesters in the past months alone, so god knows this is nothing.

But the fight is still on. We are still talking to reporters, trying to get word out and keep the cause alive on our part, but I am not sure this will be a problem. The 25th of May international protests are going on as scheduled, and special thanks should go to Ahmad Zahran and the UK disapora egyptians. And as further proof that the fight for freedom of speech is a cause that everyone, regardless of country of origon or political leanings ,  can agree upon, it also seems that the Left is joining this fight in force as well, by joining our international day of protest. Here is what's planned so far:

Cairo - London - Paris - Athens - the Hague - Seol - Washington - New York - Chicago - Toronto - Montreal - Beirut

and now….

San Francisco

Hands Off our Judges!!
Release our Detainees!!
Democracy & Justice now!!!

The demo will be in front of the Egyptian Consulate
For more information please contact Sherry Wolf at: sherrywolf2000@yahoo.com

So, if you are in one of those cities, please join the other protesters, and enjoy the fact that this might be one of the few rare moments that the left and right, arabs and israelis and everyone else will agree on something and fight together for it! After that, we can comfortably return to hating each other as much as we please, but for once, for one day, we will have a common cause, a common goal and we will be working side by side to achieve it. And that, my friends, certainly does not suck!

Update: Tomanbay has an amazing map set up . Click on the flag over the country and you get the information regarding the protest. Check it out!

In Palestine? Aah no, thats’s a joke.

When will you learn, that we simply cannot
afford to let the mob rule Egypt?

Stay reasonable, kiss the butt of the western
stooge - the good ole pharaoh - and may be
you and your friends will get a share of the
bribe payed by the US then.
