The worldcup is against Islam!

Farooha is informing us of the latest fad the Boycott afficinados in Saudi came up with: Boycott the world-cup because it has insulted Islam by placing the Saudi-flag on a football!

Here is the e-mail getting circulated in Saudi as translated by Farooha:

Subject: Woe to Sports! And woe to Football..!

The words of monotheism, on a football?!!!

Whatever
happened to the resolution the Saudi league reached and the directions
it had sent out to FIFA about never affronting our flag? This really is
an insult and the greatest insult too!

And to make matters worse, look at where the Saudi flag is positioned, to its left there is Israel and above it is Denmark!!!!!!
The word must be spread, as it is related to our religion..
Brothers, post this on forums, please..

Yes sir. Done and doner! Like I would miss out on this? Not this good muslim boy. No Sireee!

Hopefully this will somehow turn into a backlash against Saleh Kamel , the person who owns ART and has deprived us all from watching the world-cup by buying the exclsuive boradcasting rights in the middle-east, because, well, you know, he is SAUDI! I think he should pay for this blasphemy, cause it's only his netwrok that is showing this public Insult to Islam, which the Jews are surely behind it somewhow! I figure a public spanking should suffice! Any one seconding me on this?

“Nice try, guys. Except this is nothing to do with the 2006 World Cup. It looks like the tacky product of some back-street Third World sweat-shop factory. And the reason it has nothing to do with the World Cup? The flags of Northern Ireland and Israel. They are not in the World Cup. Israel, maybe next time, but come on, Northern Ireland have about as much chance of ever qualifying, as the Imam University team.”

It´s by a german bank, has nothing to do with FIFA

  3. Mumbo Jumbo Says:

Oh please! We, as Muslims, need to stop playing the victim role in everything. We need to create a positive peaceful image, and be proactive instead of crying boo-hoo all the time and pointing fingers at all the people ‘condemning’ Islam. The ones truly condemning Islam are the people infesting its name behind a masquerade of hatred and terrorism- who don’t even know what Islam is!

  5. Ari Lipsey Says:

I find the Saudi flag offensive. It has a sword at the bottom! The sword is a symbol of beheading to my people, namely the infidels. Perhaps it can be replaced by a giant hug emoticon?
    Imagine, shahada…then hug emoticon!

  6. Prup (aka Jim Benton) Says:

    Shame on you, Sam.

“Interviewer: Our brothers are being killed in all corners of the world, yet we sit down to watch the World Cup?”

“May Allah protect your daughter and sons, but imagine that you are about to undergo a surgical operation, and they tell you the doctor is late because he is watching the game. How would you feel?”

    and finally

“I am saying to the fathers, to the mothers, and to the people who watch these games: On Judgment Day, a page in the book will be opened for you, and it will say that you sat and watched the games. Will this make you happy or miserable? Will this make you happy on Judgment Day, when you face Allah, or will you wish you had never watched these games?”

The quotes are from “an interview with Saudi cleric Nasser bin Sliman Al-Omar, aired on Al-Majd TV on June 4, 2006″

I have to say that for all the talk of “monotheism” this deificiation of words and slogans is beginning to resemble old-fashioned idolatry.

  8. Mideastbeast Says:

Are the Saudis this dumb? To think that this cheap looking plastic ball, that looks like one o f those cheap pool balls we buy on the beach in Sharm, is the official FIFA World cup ball or something? Pathetic….

Not only are Israel and N. Ireland not even in the World Cup, but Saudi Arabia’s team is, so I don’t see how boycotting the team is going to do anything to help nationalist sentiment. It’s not like Saudi Arabia has any fans outside of KSA. It’s probably one of the least liked teams there. Speaking of the World Cup, Egypt should have qualified, America played pitifully, and Ghana was robbed.

  9. Suzanne Says:

The ball from the German bank has no Israeli nor Danish flag near the Saudi one; unlike the one in the picture.

Perhaps the picture has been falsified “to make it even worse”?

  10. dishevelled Says:

Seriously, only Arabs get offended by trivial things like this
Instead of focusing on much more important problems facing our societies we’re concerned by the flag positionings in a soccer ball!?
Regardless of what purpose the ball is made for, if that ball sells or not, if it bans or not, what difference would it make?

  13. Voice in eee's head Says:

This ball is clearly a Zionazi conspiracy. Probably funded by the Amnesians.

  14. Daniel M. Says:

    Just ban it all.

  15. charlie 316 Says:

That Saudi vicar sounds like he is a right barrell of laughs. Just the sort of bloke you would want to meet down the pub to enjoy a bit of light hearted banter about today’s page three girl. There have already been a number of games so far I wished I hadn’t watched. However, on judgement day I am sure St Peter will consider that anyone who sat through France v Switzerland had already been sufficiently punished.

  16. Ghi Says:

Actually, according to ART America, the World Cup is provided by sponsorships of, get this, the U.S. Army!!!!!!!!! It also plays an ad that states that thet FBI is for “you”.

    Just something to ponder…

  17. Egyptian_Patriot Says:

you guys might find this medievil mentality funny, which it is. Just remember, that behind those barrels of laughs there are millions and millions of oil dollars that back islamist groups around the world. As well as the oil the west including Germany kiss the saudis’ asses for.

  18. mike Says:

    17. Egyptian Patroit, what’s really funny is that we take the oil and produce something with it. The Saudis will run out and have nothing to show for all that wealth. No islamist group is actually a threat to the west, the only country that could be destroyed by an islamist group is a muslim one. Either by the idiotic religious nonsense or because some western country (it will be the U.S. if it happens) got sick of a situation and decided to crush something. It’s annoying that small groups of morons are banding together to destroy the zionist amnesians, it’s funny that the people cheerleading the attacks are ultimatly going to pay the price for it.

  19. Egyptian_Patriot Says:

I hope you’re not implying that I cheer for any attack on the west. Islamists, like Nazis are a threat to the whole world. You’re right, the majority of viticms of islamism are muslims themselves. Howewver, If Islamists can muster up armies and nukes, you recond they won’t invade the west?….It’s their dream, mate. White women are hot. My point was simple, the west’s dependance on Saudi Oil, is delegating A LOT of power to the Saudis, which they in turn use to spread their influence by supporting all the wahabist islamists in the world. Regardless of what the west does with it. We Egyptians have already paid the price for it. Thousands died from Islamist violence, and more importantly our society has turned from being a secular minded progressive society (the first half of the 20th century) to a backward, hypocritical, relegiously shallow and ignorant society because of the Saudi funded influence of the Islamists. If Egypt and the other major countries in the middle east become fully islamist (with equally radicalised christianist minorities), I doubt the west is going to have a trouble free future.

  21. Egyptian_Patriot Says:

Sorry for the long reply. Basically, the more you fill your SUV, the more the future will be dangerous for your grand kids. And to help you reduce your dependance on oil, my all mighty western friends, I suggest you put this image in your head. The more you go to the pump, the more likely your hot blonde great grand daughter is going to be forced humped by a smelly hairy and bearded bedouin resembling osama bin laden. (Sorry for that nasty image….but you’ll thank me for it in the long run)

  22. CUT SNAKE Says:

TO ALL THE MAD MULLAHS EVERYWHERE.
GET A FUCKING LIFE WILL YE !!!

  23. Mideastbeast Says:

I agree with you Egyptian Patriot. Egyptians have suffered from islamic terrorism and islamofascism for far longer than Americans have. May the Saudis go to hell. And may Tunisia hand them a nice world cup defeat tomorrow. All Arabs will be cheering for Tunisia, especially Egypt since they’re repping North Africa.

  24. Girl Says:

Why be tolerant towards the intolerant?

    http://www.safiaaoude.blogspot.com

A radical muslim in denmark, that makes it harder for ordinary muslims to just live a regular life…

  25. The Raccoon Says:

Stopping the oil addiction is possible. There are already alternative, ecologically clean fuels out there. At the moment they are being stupidly supressed. There are also alternatives to oil materials - biopolymers, for instance, are easy to produce and are only slightly more expensive than current-day plastics.

Cannabis, for instance, can replace oil… costs next to nothing to grow en-masse, can be made into cheap oil, plastic, construction material, cloth, food - you name it -, all of it not damaging to the environment.

Won’t happen in time. Only after Africa will become a barren wasteland, Central Europe will be washed away in floods and the seas will rise three meters will anyone think of actually doing something. So we have about 20 more years to wait :)

  26. Twosret Says:

America won’t stop buying oil from the Saudi, it is all about power. Last time I saw Bush kissing the Saudi king in his mouth I knew that it ain’t gonna happen soon :)

  27. Twosret Says:

    SM,

Could it be that the Saudi flag holds the name of Allah and Mohamed that is why they got upset that it is printed on a ball where people will kick it with their feet?

  28. charlie 316 Says:

    19 and 21. Egyptian Patriot

I am sure that a number of groups in the Middle East would love to gather up an army and invade Europe, having nuked Paris or London and wiped the Israelis off the face off the earth. However, this seems to rely on the rather quaint assumption that neither the Israelis or the Europeans (and their American Allies) would do anything other than passively accept their fate.

Would you like to do a probability assessment on that one?

Running out of oil would hurt, but how much do you think the Saudi mountain of petrodollars would be worth once that happens? A bit of chaos as suggested my Mr Raccoon above, might be the trigger for developing the technology to live in an oil free world. And if he is wrong and sea level rises by 3 metres, who will have to grow flippers first? There is an awful lot of places in the Middle East perilously close to sea level as it is at the moment.

Finally, I am sure most Europeans will be cheering for Tunisia as well. And anyone who is playing against Iran.

  29. tommy Says:

Could it be that the Saudi flag holds the name of Allah and Mohamed that is why they got upset that it is printed on a ball where people will kick it with their feet?

No, the Star of David and the Christian cross are also portrayed on that ball. It isn’t because of the name of Muhammad or Allah being on the flag, it is because they are a bunch of Muslim assholes.
