Turkey bans Piglet

Turkey joins the retards club and bans piglet the same way the british did before them , and for the same reason: the protection of muslim sensibilities!

TURKEY'S public television TRT, controlled by the Islamist-rooted government, has barred the popular Walt Disney cartoon Winnie the Pooh from air because it has a piglet as one of its main heroes, the Turkish press reported today.

Several other cartoons featuring pigs also failed to win the green
light from TRT management, according to the left-wing Cumhuriyet daily.

The station initially considered scissoring the scenes showing
Piglet, but abandoned the idea because the small pink-skinned
character, one of Winnie the Pooh's closest friends, appeared too
often, Cumhuriyet and the mass-circulation Sabah newspaper said.

TRT officials were not immediately available for comment.

Pigs are regarded as unclean by Muslims and Islam prohibits the consumption of pork.

Ok, so the british are retarded multiculturalists who think that muslims really get offended by Piglet, so they ban him out of misguided, albeit good, intentions. Fine. What's Turkey's excuse? They are a muslim nation and this is an islamic party government, and last I checked Piglet wasn't Haram. WTF is going on?

Try to be positive and think they banned it so there can be more for you :p

  2. eff Says:

I’d say this move reminds me more of eeyore — an ass — but I adore eeyore and don’t want to lump him in same group as fundamentalists.

  3. The Sphinx Says:

What??? I thought Turkey was secular! Then why are womens headscarfs (higab) forbidden in all public buildings?

    I’m confused..

  4. The Sphinx Says:

Ok, I missed your last post about Turkey. Sorry, my bad

  5. RocketRay Says:

Islam forbids eating pork. So why the hatred of the living animal? How does removing Winnie the Pooh a good act or promote Islam?

And according to “The Koran For Dummies”, a muslim may eat pork if he’s faced with starvation otherwise. It must be the loss of reason. Muslims don’t want to think, so they let the Koran think for them. Or rather, their own twisted interpretation which somehow equates a cartoon with a pig in it to eating bacon.

Same thing happens with Xtian fundies, too. They prefer to let the Bible think for them as well. That’s why you have silly fights over the display of the Ten Commandments in public buildings, as if allowing it would solve everyone’s problems.

God, save me from your most devout followers!

  6. Jay Says:

Aren’t dogs also considered unclean? Does that mean they can’t watch 101 Dalmations or Old Yeller either?

  7. The Raccoon Says:

    God, save me from religion!

  8. jonas Says:

Allah created all living things, right? Well, if he doesn’t like pigs, why did he created it? Did allah made a mistake?

  9. Hend Says:

  11. Chris in Manitoba Says:

I guess that also means no american foot ball!

Drima, those piggy bank coins are now unclean. Send them to me & I’ll dispose of them properly.

  12. JordanR Says:

Am I the only one who had a crush on Ms Piggy growing up? I guess in Turkey, that type of fantasy would be considered “wrong” and “immoral”.

  13. Craig Says:

    No Nike shoes either!

    http://www.islamweb.net/ver2/Fatwa/ShowFatwa.php?lang=E&Id=1278&Option=FatwaId

Or Nike shirts. Or Nike hats. Or Nike balls. Or Nike anything. Or Nike factories I suppose!

  14. Egypeter Says:

Craig - thanks for the info from “The Fatwa Center!!” The Fatwa Center. LOL

Oh boy - keep me the hell away from the Fatwa Center or I just might go and blow it up.

Can’t wear Nike because “Nike” was the goddess of Victory. Praise be to Allah, that one is a doozy!!

  15. hebe Says:

  16. Twosret Says:

Poor piglet indeed! what has he done :( and winnie too what did he do? it reminds of people who won’t see harry potter for religious reasons.

  17. Steven Says:

    I first mis-read that as:
    “Turkey bangs piglet”.

There is a gross image for you all. Enjoy!

  18. Steven Says:

I understand banning pig-leather more than the piglet character.

  19. mamapajamas Says:

I can understand why Muslims might ban leather or other pork products, but since when is it a sin to VIEW a pig? I don’t understand this at all!

  20. Chris in Manitoba Says:

This is OT but insurance is also forbidden??!!
I’ve found over 30 Fatwas against it.
    http://www.islamweb.net/ver2/Fatwa/ShowFatwa.php?lang=E&Id=5294&Option=FatwaId

Are these Fatwas to be technically followed by “all” Muslims or just members belonging to the fatwa writers group?

BTW, Sand Monkey I think you may have to quite your job:

  21. Don Cox Says:

It would make more sense to ban Winnie The Pooh himself, as he was named after Winston Churchill, who is regarded as a hero in Britain but as a bad guy in some other countries.

The reason to not eat pork is to avoid getting the pork tapewaorm. AFAIK this animal is now more or less extinct. I have never heard of anyone who eats bacon, sausages or roast pork getting a tapeworm. Raw fish is a much bigger risk.

I would guess that the reason dogs are “unclean” is because children can gat roundworms from dogs.

The reason shoes are unclean is the lack of sanitation in the Middle East until relatively recently. In Iraq at least, there is still sewage on the ground in the streets in many places.

Muslims are confusing sensible health precautions with religion. How about some fatwas telling people to wear condoms?

  22. Craig Says:

Trichinosis is still a problem Don. Not so much in the US because we don’t feed pigs garbage anymore, and we are aware of the importance of cooking pork fully.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis

Good description of where religious prohibitions likely come from, though.

  23. Paul harrison Says:

OK this has nothing to do with Piglet.
This is a clip from MTV Wondershowzen on the farm.

The funniest line is they show several pigs and one of the children says
    “Oh look! Moslem Kryptonite!”

I may be sick but that was funny as hell.

  24. davidson Says:

personally, i think banning anything by disney, pigs or no pigs, is a great idea.

  25. Ian in NS Says:

Don, Winnie the Pooh was not named for Winston Churchill. The character was first published in 1926 and was named after a stuffed bear owned by A.A. Milne’s son, Christopher Robin Milne. Chris had named his bear “Winnie” after a real bear named “Winnipeg” (as in the Canadian city) who was the unofficial mascot of a Canadian regiment in World War I.

  26. tommy Says:

    No falafel in Iraq.

    No piglet in Turkey.

    Suicide bombers.

    Interesting religion you’ve got there.

    LoL.

  27. muddle Says:

No Nikes in Turkey? Then just what is my daughter doing out there as the Nike girl being interviewed by Turkish TV and newspapers?
By the way…Turkey has a secularist government and they are not allowed to vote in an Islamic one because according to Ataturk the country must remain secular. The people can choose their religion but a religious party is not allowed to run Turkey.

  28. NICKY Says:

TURKEY IS A SECULAR CONTRY. THERE IS NO SUCH A THING LIKE A BANNING OF THE DISNEY CARTOON . DO YOU KNOW WHY ? BECAUSE I GROW UP WATCHING THEM. JUST WANT TO ADD THIS ALSO,I REMEBER WATCHING A SHOW CALL “THE LITTLE HOUSE” WHICH WAS MY FAVORT WAS LOADED WITH CHURCH SEENS AND CHRISTIAN TEACHINGS.
