At no other time in the past 4 years have I questioned what Israel is doing more than today.
When I see pro-Israeli bloggers and Lebanese Christians turn against Israel, I get very nervous. I hope this ends soon, I don’t think Israel can win this one.

In today’s Wall Street Journal I have an article demonstrating that Hezbollah and Hamas actually want Israel to kill Lebanese and Palestinian civilians (see ‘Arithmetic of Pain’) . I challenge the readers of this post to come up with a better alternative for Israel than to try to destroy Hezbollah’s rockets, even at the cost of some civilian casualties.
My argument is that by hiding behind their own civilians, the Islamic radicals issue a challenge to democracies: either violate your own morality by coming after us and inevitably killing some innocent civilians, or maintain your morality and leave us with a free hand to target your innocent civilians. This challenge presents democracies such as Israel with a lose-lose option and the terrorists with a win-win option. I challenge the readers of this post to recommend to Israel better ways of responding to this challenge. What would you do? What would America do? What should a democracy do?
Those are my thoughts. War is hell, and this war is especially hellish. But there don’t appear any real alternatives.

In order for there to be peace, I think that the Arabs in the region need to love peace more than they hate Israel.
What will cause this change of heart? I have no idea.

What was UNIFIL doing for the last six years? Hizballah has bunkers over thirty meters deep filled with rockets right next to UN positions.
Lebanon is suffering because the world won’t do anything which might benefit Israel. But Israel won’t quietly march into the Med for some reason. Syria and Iran are banking on hatred overcoming reason. Israel had soldiers kidnapped, killed, a ship missiled, and many hundreds of rockets fired at its cities.
Man, I’d be pissed. We get worked up over tropical storms.

Fifty-eight years–ridiculous. Israel should have finished the job a long time ago. Very few people can name all the countries in the world. A few less won’t make any difference.
If you think humanitarianism will win the fight against Islamic terrorists. you should ask yourself this question: Why don’t the smart Islamic terrorists use humanitarianism as a tactic? They use murder and terror. I trust their judgment. They know their societies better than I do.

^ Actually, FrenchTrader, the Islamic terrorists *do* use “humanitarianism” as a tactic. They provide services that their governments are unable (or unwilling) to provide.
By doing so, they win local residents over with “humanitarianism,” but then use the very people they help as human shields when they attack Israel.

Curious which pro-Israeli bloggers you are referring too, though? If you mean SM, I’ve never seen him say anything that was better than “neutral” about Israel.

Mm,.. about 380 lebanese killed; militants and civilians. That is at day 12, about 32 people a day. With the massive air strikes it’s comparable with a bread crumb next to a bakery.
Unlike Iraq, where 3000 people get killed in a month; which is 97 people a day (!); of which many in suicidal bomb attacks.
(every single person who dies is one too many, but these figures put things in perspective and I really wonder if you can still state therefore, that these airstrikes are disproportional. IMO the whole fucking suicidal bombing situation in Iraq is way more disproportional - where are the yelling voices of Nasrallah, Mashal, Haniye, Assad, Ahmandinedhad concerning this???????? (not to mention the Spanish))

2) Real in your treason procurement agents and assassins.
3) Your nukes are history. You will need to finance the disposal of what is mostlikey a substandard plutonium factory.
4) Certain leadership in Israel, as well as the US, UK will have to answer for crimes. Accept it - fuck your pride - you’re about to die - your choice Israel - your choice - the failure of Mosada - the chistians roast pig for his end of times bar-b-que - or a new hope?
If you had to think about it - there is no hope.
5) One citizen - one vote . European Jews, Palestinain Mulsim, Christian and Jews will be equal.
6) The world is going start charging Jews a quater everytime they get indignant, and another quarter everytime it looks like their entertaining that racist notion that somehow they matter more than us - only bottom of the food chain trailer parker queens need that kind of nickle and dime reassurance - blow us - that absurd llittle Jewish Dominion Heresy goes the way of Wolfman and Dracula.
The UN will relocate to Jurasalem - NYC and NYC media has a lot of sorting out to do and the UN needs a fresh start.
Saudi Arabia - the clocks clicking on all forms of Zionism - begin converting the family assets to the elected government.
No time - you’ve committed a crime Israel - and there is no way you can fight yourself out of it - it’s time to quit being the dancing monkey for the Organ Grinders of Big War and Big Oil - it stops today.

Well, Counterterrroism Blog is reporting that Christian areas in Lebanon have been penetrated by Hezbollah and that, in fact, Christian supporters of Michel Auon are provided safehouses and support to Hezbollah. Including allowing rockets to be used from Christian areas. This doesn’t really surprise me, since I’ve heard that Auon has been rather cozy with Syrian elements in Hezbollah in recent times.
