  1. Chip Says:

Yeah man, old news. HAMAS wants Spain too. Once land is consecrated into a holy waqf (or whatever) by Muslim presence it’s your duty to go recapture it.

Zapatero is more than happy to give it up. So just keep your mouth shut and look for nice real estate on the ocean.

  2. nomad Says:

yeah , they still can try, but they will be stopped in front of Poitiers, the fairy place where they already had to move off

  3. Hannah Says:

Yeah, sadly Chip is right. Once the land is settled by Islam, it’s supposed to be your duty to get it back, hence the catch phrase “Andelusian Tragedy” (though my spelling is probably off), a reference to when the Moors lost spain.

  4. French Trader Says:

I notice he didn’t say Spain to Afganistan. I guess he must have written off that place.

  5. centrist Says:

I wonder how long it will take the world to blame this on Israel…

  6. Shay Says:

This reminds me of Khadaffi firing rockets at an Italian island during a Libyan Army excersize. Afterall, Italy is an inseparable part of Libya, isn’t it?

  7. Wishbone Says:

    “Liberate”…….Read : “Subjugate”

  8. Dan Irving Says:

I blogged about this very issue about this time last year:

    http://papertigerpundit.blogspot.com/2005/08/peace-for-israel.html

It’s not just Spain. I wonder if they will make the claim for Dearborn, MI (USA) as well …

  9. Mia Says:

So as a woman whose family originally came from Spain and settled in Puerto Rico and who happens to have an Arab last name (Amin) do they get custody of me too? Or will he kick my butt since my grandpa’s family fought against the Moors?

  10. Egypeter Says:

Well, hell, if there’s no Statute of Limitations then I wonder if Al Qaeda is interested in liberating Egypt from the Arabs who invaded Egypt in the 7th century? Do you think Al Qaeda can return Egypt to the Egyptians? :)

    Here’s the story:

  11. tommy Says:

    But wait!

Wasn’t Islamic terrorism a thing that was supposed to go away once the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolved?

    You mean….

…they may not be satisfied with that?

Honestly, is anyone surprised? The goal of these people is to establish a worldwide caliphate. Nothing less than a worldwide theocratic government will satiate these people. People who think there are concessions that can be made, short of total surrender, are fooling themselves.

  12. Kranky Says:

Dan, they already have Dearborn-istan. I can’t read half the signs when I drive down Michigan Avenue anymore.

  13. BrooklynJon Says:

    Egypter,

Silly! Of course there’s a statute of limitations. Claims are only valid back to the time of maximal expansion of Islam. Anyone who was conquered or subjugated after that has the right to get their land back. And note that this varies from place to place, depending on when the maximal expansion of Islam was in that area. Austria? 1683 is the cutoff. France? You can get your land back if you were dispossessed after 732.

In Brooklyn, Islam is still expanding, so no claims can be made. But you can forget about Atlantic Avenue.

  14. Suzanne Says:

lol, i think that is Spain’s present for being so anti-Israel,..

    erm

    huh?

  15. Egypeter Says:

    Thanks BrooklynJon -

I just figured if Al Qaeda was in the business of “liberating” countries that they might consider Egypt. But in Bin Laden’s delusional mind he probably believes that Egypt was historically founded in 639 AD under Amr Ibn Al-As…

  16. Ross F Says:

Don’t Al Qaeda want to ‘liberate’ India too?

  17. L.T. Says:

Wonder what would happen to Ibiza? There goes all the fun…

  18. nomad Says:

You can get your land back if you were dispossessed after 732.
actually only english poeple are trying to depossess us !

and we took every thing from the arabs, donkeys, goats, goat cheeze, snails… it is nowadays some of specific french tasty cooking !

hu, I forgot names, like Sarazin :p

  19. BrooklynJon Says:

But in Bin Laden’s delusional mind he probably believes that Egypt was historically founded in 639 AD under Amr Ibn Al-As…

Yup. And all those mummies and heiroglyphics were put there by crafty artisans who wanted to drum up interest in tourism. In fact, back then there was no Nile. Just sand.

  20. tommy Says:

    You mean….

….Spain might be subject to further terrorist attacks….

    ….after it withdrew from Iraq!

The moonbats aren’t going to like this. Not one bit.

  21. Peter Says:

For what it’s worth, this doctrine of once I’ve conquered it, it’s MINE until the end of time was not invented by Muslims, nor is it unique to them.

The “modern” conception of borders dates back to the Treaty of Westphalia of 1648, the treaty that brought the Thirty Years War to an end. The war had been unbelievably destructive (25% of all Germans died), and the signatories needed an understanding of the limits of a state’s reach that would allow them to conduct international affairs without another bloodbath. They arrived at the idea that states could exchange territory for equivalent chunks of territory, without the need to fight a war-without-end. Over the last three centuries, territories in Europe have been assigned to one state or another, either through treaty or through war. Although retaliatory campaigns sometimes happen (Louis XIV conquered and annexed Alsace and Lorraine from native German rulers in the 17th Century; Prussia conquered it from France in the 19th Century; France reconquered it in the settlement after WWI), most territorial exchanges have not resulted in back-and-forth conquests, because neither state bases its right to exist on the possession of the disputed territory.

But not everyone operates on Westphalian principles, even though every international institution claims to do so. The earlier model of state possession of territory was the one that Islam inherited from the Roman (Byzantine) Empire it partially conquered and the Sassanid (Persian) Empire it wholly conquered: The idea that, once conquered, a piece of territory belonged to the conqueror until the end of time. Presumably, this idea rose up when such empires were mostly conquering territory from disorganized/semi-civilized peoples on the fringes of their empires. But the idea didn’t hold up as well when it was applied to a foe who had equivalent resources. The Persians/Parthians and the Romans fought for nearly 500 years over possession of Armenia and Mesopotamia; first one would conquer, then the other, then back again.

Islam, being a religious doctrine, introduced the idea that such a conquest was the reflection of God’s will, and must therefore be preserved as a religious duty. See: Bernard Lewis, The Middle East: A Brief History of the Last 2000 Years.

Other societies that have been more cut off from Western European attitudes of the limits of the state also seem to feel that the proper borders for their state are the maximal borders of their ethnic grop’s historical expansion, whether anyone of that ethnicity lives there now or not. See: Robert Kaplan, Balkan Ghosts.

  22. Miss R Says:

Doesn’t al queda want to “liberate” the WORLD from the evils of the west?

  23. Wishbone Says:

Can’t remember where I read this, so I can’t give the credit where it’s due, but someone said….

“Muslims are like cats…….If they’ve pissed on it, they think they own it”

  24. eee Says:

    > For what it’s worth, this doctrine of once I’ve conquered it,
    > it’s MINE until the end of time was not invented by Muslims,
    > nor is it unique to them.

True. They are outperformed by jewish lunatics - aka zionists
that claim that “it’s MINE” for “my grand^60-pa lived here” -
    maybe.

  25. Freedom Now Says:

Unfortunately, eee the Palestinians never had a state. Israel has been a province of the Ottoman Empire, the Byzantines, Romans, Crusaders and the Caliphates, but Palestine as a country never existed.

Before 1947 the last time Israel was under self-rule was under the Jews.

Not to mention that there has been a continuous Jewish presence in Israel during the last two millenniums.

The Jews were an oppressed minority by the many invaders of their land. Under the Ottomans they were discriminated against and couldn’t hold positions of power. They have seen dozens of invaders come and go, with little say over what happened in their own country.

I will grant you the point that the Jewish exiles demanded the right of return like the Palestinians do today. However, the Jews weren’t a hostile enemy population that endorsed genocide and terrorism against the other inhabitants of the land. When offered a separate state for Israel and the Arabs, the Jews accepted, but the Arabs rejected co-habilitation. They continue to reject co-habilitation up until this very day.

If you study the birth of Zionism in the wake of the Dreyfuss Affair up until the genocide of the holocaust, you will realize that the foundation of Israel was a logical solution to the Final Solution.

    I await your hateful and anti-Semitic response…

  26. BrooklynJon Says:

    On behalf of eee:

    Freedom now,

Jews are racist killers. The drink babies’ blood. They rape the world and are irredemably evil. They need to die, die, die, die, die. They can only have their evil apartheid state at the bottom of the Mediterranean.

eee, I saved you the bother again. You owe me.

Such plagiarism will only get you in trouble. eee has the copyrights to that kind of vulgar language and you are in violation of the Triple E trademark.

  28. Trond Says:

Well hardly no surprise that they want Spain,

They have already decided that Oslo (Norway) is to change name to Medina,
    http://www.idag.no/aktuelt-oppslag.php3?ID=8766
    (Norwegian only sorry)

Spain is closer so why not start there…

  29. Suzanne Says:

Trand: if Norway is Medina, perhaps Spain is Mecca ;)

  30. Drima aka SudanesThinker Says:

Zarqawi is a fucking dickhead! First they bomb Spain because they had their troops in Iraq and then Spanish troops withdraw. Now the dickhead wants to take back Spain… How??? By bombing more innocent civilians… In what fucking cave is this guy still hiding?? I think he’s got some seriously bad constipation… Faswa biljad!

Egypeter hey dude… Sorry I didn’t call you. I got insanely busy in the last week…

  31. Freedom Now Says:

I think you mean Zawahiri not Zarqawi. Zarqawi actually got involved in fighting US troops so he got smoked. Zawahiri is hiding in a cave in the independent tribal lands of northern Pakistan. Where he is safe from the fighting and can produce is pretty little videos that tells young men to give their lives for him.
