According to the Somalian PM, we, alongside Libya and Iran (Iran? IRAN????) are helping the islamic militants against his government. No wonder we are not getting involved in Lebanon.

Let us see here: the US is on one side the Somali conflict, and our good friend, Egypt, is on the other.
Yep! Definitely well past the time to cut that $2 billion in foreign aid.

Tommy, Egypt isn;t supporting the militants. The somali PM is talking out of his ass. We couldn’t give a rat’s ass about Somalia. I was making fun at the absurdity of that news item is all!

I know, SM.
I was joking about using this as an excuse to cut the foreign aid we should be cutting anyway.

#4 Anonymous asks how the hell Iran is involved in every conflict…
Because Iran’s leader is a nutcase who wants to bring on some kind of worldwide muslim armageddon for the sake of the 12th Imam. I don’t know what the average Lebanese citizen thinks of Walid Jumbalatt anymore, but it’s a crying shame that more folks aren’t listening to him right now. This whole thing is about SYRIA, and that means IRAN. I’ve got an Iranian neighbor who is just going nuts about the goings on in Lebanon right now, and the thing is, he’s saying the same stuff about the war that Walid is.
Wait till my friend see THIS headline. He’s still got lots of family in Iran, and he’s worried sick about this expanding into the entire ME. What a nightmare Gawd, I sure hope he’s wrong.
Iran hardline forces readying for revenge on Israel
Iran’s hardline forces should ready themselves to take revenge on Israel and the United States for the offensive on Lebanon, the head of the Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Sunday.
“The Basij and Revolutionary Guards should prepare to get even with the Zionists and Americans,” Yahya Rahim-Safavi was quoted as telling Islamic militiamen by the conservative Fars news agency. (Reuters)

Here are 3 interesting reads on this. Why are all these hot spots blowing up now?! I know the fighting NEEDS to stop between Lebanon and Israel, but I fear that Syria/Iran have other plans. I sure hope I’m wrong!!!!

SM you refute the Somali PM comments without proof. Egypt might as well be deeply involved in Somalia. Just that fact that you dont hear it in the news doesn’t mean Egypt isn’t, it only means there aren’t enough news reporters in Somalia, or the country doesn’t get worthy coverage, or there is official (semi-official?) silencing up of the story.

Egypt being involved in Somalia may not be such an outrageous claim… in fact, the number of Arab countries involved seems to keep growing, Yemen in particular wants to stop the flow of somali refugees arriving on its shores by boat, (seeing as the number within Yemen is now in the hundreds of thousands), and Saudia is also sick of having to send back planeloads of illegal somali immigrants. Supporting the Islamists could bring some sort of stability to the country and stop all those dratted AIDS infected illegal africans flowing into their countries…
Who knows what interests Egypt has in the situation, although I must admit its unlikely that they are cooperating with Iran on anything… check out these links about the proxy wars and vested interests various countries have in Somalia
