Everyone loves Hezbollah

Hezbollah is the word today:

Hezbollah has killed 10 Israelis todays, by bombing a farm. Lebanese Shia will take on the street in celebrating this very importnat victory any minute now. There will be dancing while holding guns. Oh yes, there will be!

The Editor in Chief of the arab times thinks that Hezbollah is the one losing this war.

In
what he calls “Beyond Haifa,” Nasrallah says his fighters will begin
rocket attacks deeper into Israel, south of Haifa. We wonder if
Nasrallah took any time to review his achievements in the first phase
of the war against the enemy before thinking about the next. So far his
only achievements have been causing the destruction of Lebanon’s
infrastructure and killing of innocent Lebanese. If he begins the
second phase the only result will be wiping out of whatever remains of
Lebanon’s infrastructure and killing of the rest of the Lebanese.

Raja seems to share a similar view:

One thing must be clear to all Lebanese - and I mean ALL: what has
transpired over the past two weeks eliminates all the pretense for
Hizballah's existence as a military force.

Its proclaimed
ability to protect Lebanon from Israel has summed up to nothing more
than causing a fraction of the damage to Israel in retaliation. All
Hizballah can claim any kind of credit for is its ability to protect
itself, and avoid elimination - small consolation to the rest of us.

True!

Even Lebanese Presidential candidates are starting to be a bit more public about their disapproval Of Hezbollah.

And if that's not bad enough, the one thing that made Hezbollah so popular, its social services net, is totally and completely devestated. It will take far more than the Iranians are willing to offer to actually rebuild that network again.

Last but not least, Israeli soldiers come back from fighting Hezbollah convinced that they are fighting them wrong:

A third soldier said: “All the time, they fired missiles at us. They
never come face to face, just missiles. When we find them we kill them.
It’s just not right, the way we are doing it. Our air force can just
bomb villages and not risk our lives fighting over there.”

Yeah, I am sure no one would have a problem with that, especially after Qana. That should go down well with the public, no?

And here is the difference between Israel and Hezbollah - while there was a public outcry in Israel from the results of the incident in Qana - the Palestinians and Hezbollah were overjoyed by killing 10 civilians.

These situations are the Achilles heel of democracy and liberalism.

When Jordan wanted to deal with the Palestinians in Black October they didn’t really care for human rights. When Egypt tried to control the Jama’a Al-Islamia or when Assad or Saddam butchered their own countrymen by the hundreds - they didn’t worry themselves with international public opinion. Israel is not like that - which is our greatest advantage and disadvantage.

  3. Kranky Says:

SM, eventually the view that will prevail is the one that let to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

They can send lots of their soldiers to die, or they can kill the enemy, including civilians, and save many more deaths from occuring.

This calculus is cold, unforgiving. And it is starting to be debated.

Hez needs to be put out of action, the only question remaining is how many civz are going down with it. If they start calling in air strikes against Hez, this can be over real damn fast.

“Lebanese Shia will take on the street in celebrating this very importnat victory any minute now. There will be dancing while holding guns. Oh yes, there will be!”

Yep, and in the Palestinian Authority as well, as Ynet reports (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3287112,00.html)

“In Nablus’ city center, dozens of cars and cabs set out in celebratory processions …”

And just incase you were wondering where the guns were, they’re also there:

“Al-Aqsa Brigades gunmen of Fatah fired in the air in celebration, as children and traders set off fireworks.”

And finally, to ensure that the local dentists are kept gainfully employed:

“Many store owners handed out fruits and candy to those celebrating the deaths”

By the way, can anyone tell me what the whole ’shooting in the air’ thing is about? Why do they shoot in the air when they celebrate? And who ends up getting hit by the bullets (which, I presume, end up coming down again)?

  5. lisoosh Says:

    Nominally Challanged -
Actually there are usually a couple of deaths a year from returning bullets.

What comes up, must come down.

  6. Valerie Says:

    SM,

Is there a tie between the last two links in your post? There are reports that the “social services” projects would always include something extra: bunkers and munitions storage in inappropriate places such as private homes and public service buildings. Further, when water lines were installed, so were military communication lines and conduits for control of mines. When the Israelis raided a hospital, there was much speculation about that, until it was shown to have also been a command center for Hezbollah.

  7. MF Says:

The Australian ABC has reported the rocketing under the headline “Hezbollah rocket strike kills Israeli soldiers”, because the 10 dead were apparently “reserve soldiers.”

It seems to have escaped them that just about every military-aged male in Israel is a reservist…

  8. MF Says:

(Addendum: I should have said “just about every military-aged person.” I forgot that Israel practices universal conscription.)

  9. diana Says:

Lebanon has to assume responsibility for their actions. Lebanon, very conveniently, let Hezbollah grow and grow. This may be a great opportunity. If Hezbollah is weakened enough, maybe the Lebanese army can really take over, save Lebanon and make peace with Israel……….mmmmmm and what about Syria?…………..mmmmmmmm and what about Iran……..?

  10. Papa Ray Says:

Qana is a problem for Israel. But mainly for the apology that they were quick to make.

Which says we are guilty, so we apoligise.

Maybe they should have waited a while before making such a statement.

Report: Hezbollah placed a rocket launcher on the roof of the building in Qana to provoke an Israeli attack and brought invalid children inside to be victims.

Did not the great leader of the Nez make a statement that no sacrifice was to great for them to make, including their children?

Of course no one believed him..do you?

    SoCalJustice-

That was a bunch of utter shite from the lefties. There’s no explaining their blindness to even the simplest of things, but trust me; 100,000 people would have made news in a big way if it had been true. They make it up as they go along. That many people on the march would have warranted aerial shots of the procession and a huge police presence.

I could understand if Brits marched in protest at war, any war, in the name of pacifism. I still wouldn’t respect their views, but I’d at least understand it. But this lot are simply anti Israel and can be quite violent in their protests. As far as I’m concerned they should be loaded onto the boats along with the rest of the traitors and terrorist sympathisers and be repatriated elsewhere.

  16. Ariya Says:

The public already hates Israel. And they are starting to catch on to the faked news that came out of Qana. Hajj is the same photographer that posted the fake Beirut photograph.

Israel should do whatever they have to do to protect themselves. Everyone remembers who started this whole mess. But many don’t want to be reminded that it wasn’t Israel.

  18. Mike Nargizian Says:

Let me say it loud and clear what everyone knows but is afraid to say -

QUANA WAS PRE-PLANNED PROPOGANDA PHONEY BY HEZBOLLAH aka…….. Jenin.

No rescue workers were allowed into the structure.
Orphans were supposedly transported into the building after the Israeli bombings.
The building fell 6 hours after Israel bombed the nearby area never directly hitting the building.
People supposedly soundly slept in the building and didn’t evacuate for hours after the Israelis bombed it… but only women and children slept there, no men… LOL!
None of the victims had blood on them only ashy smoke.
The same toddler was DISGUSTINGLY paraded around for photographers and they even fucking changed his clothes in between pictures.

So it begs the question does the world expect less from Arabs? Another words, Arab can do this, lie - deceive - parade around their dead - cheer like frothing animals in the streets when Civilians on the other side are murdered?

But if 1 Israeli girl writes to Hezbollah on a Missile - or after 9-11 1 stupid hick attacks what he thought was an Arab ————

THEN THESE PICS AND ACCUSATIONS OF “ISLAMOPHOBIA AND ARAB HATRED” supposedly sweeping America are tossed on the front covers and in the Newspapers around the country.

Are you not embarrassed as an Arab for crying out loud?

An eye for an eye - according to jewish laws.

According to this - regarding earlier israeli invasions - more than
15.000 Israelis have to be killed - just to fulfill jewish laws - an eye
    for an eye.

  20. Anonymous Coward Says:

Mike, I generally like reading the comments on this blog. So yeah, spare us the drama. Qana happened, it was an accident. End of story. Why do you feel the need to justify human error?

As for Arab hyprocrisy; get used to it. Don’t expect it to change for another 100 years.

Your knowledge of the bible is quite pitiful.
The passage doesn’t say you can TAKE an eye for an eye lost. It is not about retribution.
It says if you take an eye you must give one. It is about compensation - if you hurt someone you must make it up to them.

    The bibly specifically prohibits revenge.

  25. Born-as-a-SHI3I Says:

I just wanna say that it’s really easy to criticize Hezbollah wen u apparently know nothing about Lebanese politics and how things operate over here. I don’t support Hezbollah even though Im from the south, but thats because of their religous intolerance and their internal politics, and not because of wat is currently going on. When the Lebanese government stated its primary mission to gain confidence and become legit, they adopted the resistance accepting Hezbollah as well as adopting their actions as a resistance. As soon as they took over they turned on them, and all of a sudden they’re upset that the Hizb didn’t ask them before doing something. That’s a bunch of bull. If after the kidnapping of the two soldiers the gov stepped up and took the heat for a resistance that they supposedly made legit and accepted, things would have never gotten to this point. By detaching themselves from Hezbollah they turned this war into one between Hezbollah and Israel instead of between Israel and Lebanon which it actually is. By doing that, along with the help of our good arab buddies(Egypt, Saudi bastards), they pretty much told the Israelis to deal with Hezbollah like it wanted as it separated itself from them and the people of the south. Hezbollah might have started it, but this was never about the kidnapped soldiers which are barely even talked about anymore. This is simply about Lebanese politicians and Arab leaders realizing that a growing shi3a power has become a risk to their existence and due to their failure to get rid of them, just like the Lebanese love to do they turned to external forces to help. America and Isreal took this as an opportunity to further create the New Middle East. This is unfortunate and its a pity, because wen those lil fuckers made a deal with the devil they should have realized that it meant hundereds of thousands of Lebanese (SHI3a) are soon going to be taking it up the butt by Isreali rockets. If u have in thing that can proves otherwise sandyboy please let me know at mrachidi@indiana.edu

    > It says if you take an eye you must give one.

So far 15.000 up to 20.000 Israelis have to be “taken” for these inva-
sion - if one accepts jewish “an eye for an eye” laws.

But according to zionist - really barbarian - laws, 400.000 or 500.000
Israelis have no more right to live, for zionism requires to kill 20 or more
in retaliation instead of only one.
You should start to dig mass graves now, if you’re a zionist.

  27. Jason from Toronto Says:

Riiiight. And eee are you ready to start digging mass graves for all those Arabs that must also die to attone for Arabic actions over the past millenia? No? Well that wouldn’t be a surprise. Get real.

  28. Jason from Toronto Says:

This is kinda funny “Syria’s foreign minister, Walid Muallem, defiantly trumpeted his country’s support for Hezbollah and warned that Syria was ready for “the possibility of a regional war if the Israeli aggression continues”.

“If you wish, I’m ready to be a soldier at the disposal of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah [the Hezbollah leader],” he said.”

Riiiiight. Like any politician would EVER pick up a weapon and join the men on the front lines.

Those three Israeli troopers were sounding like infantrymen everywhere, Sam. Why go into harm’s way if Air can blast it? Sounds great in theory, but in practice, it is an 11 B who takes it to the enemy and these troopers know it.

  32. Louise Says:

I have to laugh at this social services network business. We have that in Canada, too. There are tons of big important people like politicians, lawyers and academics that make a very handsome living off the backs of the poor. This is especially predominant amongst those who “champion” the cause of Canada’s native Indian population. The fact is, they have a vested interest in keeping that population poor and needy. If it weren’t for the legions of poor and needy folks the tycoons would be out of a job. We call it the Indian Industry and their products and services consist of making excuses for their clients, so that their clients don’t have to take responsibility for lifting themselves out of poverty - in other words, it’s their way of keeping themselves in business.

  33. BrooklynJon Says:

    AB #25,

More to the point, “an eye for an eye” is meant to establish MAXIMUM compensation in a civil tort. In other words, the law is meant to limit the required compensation to be no more than what the injured party actually suffered.

In any event, it regards civil penalties in a tort law case, not war. Applying “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” to war is totally silly, a point which eee makes abundantly clear, albeit unintentionally. It would require David, having slain Goliath, to go commit suicide. P’shaw!

    Dave #29,
“Speaking of Qana, it is starting to appear it’s a fake, a nice Hezballywood prodution.” Yep. What is sad is that the world, having attributed blame to Israel, has moved on.

  38. Jason from Toronto Says:

I’m actually aware of this and aware, that Hammurabi was not a
    yesha-council-style barbarian.

Nothing that changes the fact, that - according to common zionazi
yesha-council-style ethics - shared by amnesian evangelical fas-
cists - about half a million of israeli civilians deserve death.

  42. Jason from Toronto Says:

eee is very selective on what parts of his interpretation of Zionist writing and agenda he supports being implemented.. make up your “mind”.. either support ALL of it or none.. at least get your schizo prescription renewed :P
