It actually DOES sound pretty funny. Though I might worry a bit that SOMEONE would want to chop off my head for laughing.

Yes, some of the lines were funny. But one thing that’s not funny is the reporter’s representation of the non-flying imams:
“Yet that fictional moment is an all-too-possible occurrence, as witnessed when six imams were hauled off a US Airways plane in Minnesota in November after apparently spooking at least one fellow passenger by murmuring prayers that included the word Allah.”
If all they were doing was murmuring prayers, they wouldn’t have spooked anyone. I hate the frickin NYT.

#2 it would have spooked anyone who doesnt know arabic, ever thought of that?

#5, It wasn’t the prayers in the airport that spooked airport security. After all those Imams did board the plane. What spooked them were the facts that the Imams switched seats without asking permission first, asked for seat belt extensions when they weren’t fat and said some things in Arabic which an Arabic speaker did understand.

They weren’t innocent travellers. They came from a radical mosque and were there to make a point.

“They weren’t innocent travellers. They came from a radical mosque and were there to make a point.”
Actually they were there either to provide a phony “incident” to support upcoming anti airline security measures of the Democrats or to soften up security and make them think that if they ever stop a suspicious passenger they will be called racist. Or both.
Since this is being done by the CBC it will either be good (10% chance) or really really bad - like showing Christians chasing them with torches and Bush aiming missiles at their house.

The imams not only switched seats, but did so in a manner consistent with a group that might attempt hijacking a plane. They switched to seats that would have allowed them to block the plane’s entries and exits in the event of an incident.

I’d like to see the following sitcom made.

Sacha Baron Cohen, you made a mint with “Borat”. You now have the money and the gravitas. Please produce it!
