Barak Obama: Not Black?

Stephen Colbert is on the case, and he is brilliant!

Comments

  1. Who cares if he’s black? Apparently this whole argument takes the spotlight away from his politics – for example: campaigning in Connecticut for Lieberman when (we) the Democrats up there were booting his two-faced (closet Republican) ass out of the party. Obama’s new and he’s hot and virtually unknown, but he’s got some explaining to do to the Democrats of Connecticut, for what some of us believe is close to high treason! How about we discuss whether Hillary is a lady or female and ignore her stance on the Iraq War too, huh? Let’s just avoid the big issues – which is what the mainstream media in the U.S. is all about these days.

  2. Black is all he’s got! He doesn’t have the gravitas that God gave a field of pansies. He’s a lightweight hoping to sail in on America’s newfound love of mulattoes. Unlike Tiger Woods, however, he has no talent and the political animals in the Democratic party like HC will eat him alive long before Super Tuesday. However, if by some miracle that empty suit does manage to get the nomination, he’ll have to face the political animals in the Republican party as well. Obama will go down in the history books as the definition of “flash in the pan.”

Some of my Scottish ancestors were slaves of a western culture, the Vikings.

So I’m black and didn’t even know it.

  4. She’s in la la land, trying to define black in way that divorces it from being a race.

Ok, maybe race is an obsolete 19th century (or earlier?) psuedo science obsession of, well, racists. If you want to get rid of race, then get rid of obsessing over who’s black, ok?

It’s like saying that you’re not religious then saying that all of the atheists are going to hell. There’s a contradiction there. “Black” was a word that replaced “colored”, “negro” and the word I’m not going to type, and thus avoid the spam filter.

It means what they did. It really does. Try convincing one of those old time racists that Obama isn’t an n-word because his great grandparents weren’t slaves. What nonsense!

  5. My post didn’t show up! I’m going to try again:

  6. I’ve got news for some of you. If you had been listening to the talk radio on the Black stations, you would have heard discussions about whether Colin Powell and Condi Rice are “really Black” or not. Same for Michael Steele (former Republican lieutenant governor for the state of Maryland, and candidate for Senator) This parody cuts close to the bone.

The most amazing thing I ever heard was on Martin Luther King’s 25th anniversary celebration: “It’s just a bunch of rich folk come to congratulate themselves.”

    Valerie,

“Blackness” has been redefined to include skin color and personal heritage, but also to include obeissance to a requisite political ideology. To many black pundits, a “Black Conservative” is an oxymoron. A pity, really, because it allows the Democratic Party to take the black vote for granted.

    vagabondblogger,
Yup. He can kiss those 200 votes goodbye!

    Kafir,

You mean that two years of distinguished service in the Senate (two years!) and one really good convention speech does not make a good resume for the presidency? Why you must be a racist! Oh, wait, he’s not black! In that case, never mind.

  9. Hmmmmmmmm, lets see now..if your dad is black and your mom is white how is it that anyone could take sides and claim you were surely black or surely white unless they are among the crowd that loves to yell racist and keep trouble brewing about it? I am Indian,Irish and German but I appear to be a white american. One thing for sure I will never deny the parts of me that make me who I am..mainly because I had no choice about it!! But I will say that I fear for America if Obama or Hillary either one make it to the white house.Mark my words and listen to what they are saying very very carefully!
