The old goat is totally off his rocker!

Several parrallel law-systems?! He’s out of his mind! But then again, he’s obviously religious as well, so what else is new…

I love it when Hitchens talks religion, he’s my favorite celebrity.
Everyone should watch his latest debate with Rabbi Boteach. It was a good laugh.

My distant cousin Hitch pretty much despises religion, probably because, having imbibed little, he fears it as much as teetotalers do his precious tipples. The first example he cites is misleading: straightforward embezzlement of money is subject to secular jurisdiction, which is what happened here. There is indeed “one law for everybody”, BUT if you agree to take on additional obligations as a member of your community, these should stand as long as they don’t contradict the law, just as ordinary legal contracts commit me to deliver goods to a customer at a particular price.

I’d say the Archbishop of Canterbury should retire to a monastery someplace, but I doubt that would help matters. The Anglican Church has been foundering for decades, and not just in England.
