So, not only do we have a Hezballah leader killed, but a car bomb in Syria as well? I would dance if I didn't think that something about this piece of news stinks like an anchovies' armpit!

Not just any Hezbollah leader, though… but the most hated and most bloody-handed member of Hezbollah in it’s history.

It’s too good to be true. Especially with the timing of it. It’s too bad there is no way to easily prove the body is really him.

He was probably transporting explosives that exploded prematurely, of course they have to blame the Jooooo’s. If it wasn’t for them there would be no need to carry the explosives in to first place. Makes perfect sense!

To bad it couldn’t happen to him about 400 times. He has the blood of a lot of people on his hands.

Live by the bomb and die by it.

All bravado and quips aside…I don’t see how Israel could have pulled this off…at least not with significant cooperation. This shit had a lot of people pissed off; Americans, some Syrians, Lebanese for certain…

This one puzzles me a bit…it is very good he is dead….very very good. But the Israelis this time…this one might actually have some real conspiracy stuff connected…

And if an inside job…they lose nothing knowing Israel gets the blame…some embassy or coffee shop or kindergarten gets smoked and maybe, for them…that would just be icing on the cake…

    I don’t know

Speaking as a frequenter of Tel Aviv coffee shops, and as someone who survived the “smoking” of an open air market…. yikes!

Yes, of course I agree with your analysis. Just unpleasant to think about. But then, when it comes to smoking various Israeli population centers, how is this any different from the situation before?

As for the consipiracy theories (is he or ain’t he dead)–did not even think of that angle.

Half my family is there and one almost got it at a bus stop and one was near the ice cream pallor with her baby when it went up. I have long done volunteer work for terror victims and have personally met several…including a family that was on the #1 bus at the Kotel…I met the lady who was laying in bed when a terrorist sneaked into her bedroom and shot her baby in her arms and then shot her little boy in the head. I don’t take this as light or funny at all.

My language is sarcastic…there is nothing funny about this whatsoever. Most think Israel did it…but that matters little since terrorism is a daily factor since the late 1800’s…just cycles of exacerbation and then some remission.

I am glad this shit is dead…but it will make little difference. Much of, certainly not all, of the Arab world has long made the choice of violent militancy and scapegoatism…until that changes…this horrific ping-pong game will continue.

I would not go too deep with the conspiracy theories…he is dead and Israel probably did it…but there are a whole lot of others that wanted him dead. Who knows?

but there are a whole lot of others that wanted him dead

    Including the Americans

The American and Israeli government don’t seem skeptical that it was Mugniyah. I suspect that is because they both know he is dead and that whoever killed him wasn’t Iran/Syria.

    yochanan @ 13,

    You are wrong.

He will be offered 144 virgins and will be allowed to hand pick them.

However, he will decline the opportunity for obvious reasons.

” I suspect that is because they both know he is dead and that whoever killed him wasn’t Iran/Syria.”

Don’t be so sure. Could this of been carried out in Damascus without people from those two countries being complicit? The list of those who wanted him dead far outweighs the list of those who didn’t, even in the Arab world.
Iran, Syria, Nasrallah and Hez are condemning the brutal assassination at his funeral while others marked the 3rd year anniversary of another killed in the same way. The fucking irony is lost on them.
Maybe we’re witnessing the future of the war on terror, with sanctioned, targeted assassinations throughout the Muslim world being the modus operandi in favor of troops on the ground. The West could do a lot worse than pulling back to it’s own borders to fight homegrown Islamic terrorism and conducting it’s operations abroad in this manner.

Yes, I’m sure Israel has an extensive spy network in Syria. The U.S. likely has quite a few assets in the country as well.

    So what is the lastest?

Palestinians have been arrested in connect with the killing…If that is more than rumor…how about a Charles Manson-like conspiracy theory?

Pals. kill this dude…Israel gets blamed…Jews get attacked around the world, Iran fires up Nashrallah…Israeli attention gets directed out of Gaza etc. and towards Lebanon. Heat is off Hamas…Jews get killed, Israel is in turmoil and at war, Palestinians watch and party.

That is my conspiracy theory…oh…and they even try to pick up the 5 million price on the dude’s head…

Will he have his dick when he gets to heaven to bang the 144 virgins? What does the Holy Book say about martyrs killed by bombs? Do they qualify for the virgins in heaven? I mean, realistically, the martyrs during the rise of Islam died by the sword, bows and arrows. Me thinks we need a fatwa on ‘shuhada’ killed by bombs!

“The Kuwaiti daily Awan reported, from a knowledgeable Arab source, that Imad Mughinyua was killed as he was preparing a car bomb.”

That’s immediately what I thought when I heard the joyful news! What could be better than one of these morons blowing himself and a few of his minions sky high without any innocents being hurt! It’s a win/win situation!!!

I wonder if his family will receive death benefits from their piece of shit benefactors Iran and Syria. Personally I think the Syrians offed him to add more fuel to the fire on the hezboallah front. Apparently Israel doesn’t have enough to deal with in Hamas so they had to make sure that public sentimet in the Arab street got a little more fodder.

I would like to suggest..that maybe..just maybe this is one of the benefits of the tremendous intelligence gathering thats going on in Iraq by the Americans.. We are capturing thousands of insurgents and would be suicide bombers coming in from Iran and Syria and finding out all kinds of stuff..like for instance where the Hezbollah is based in Syria and who runs it..etc.
Until the US went into Iraq..we were completely at the mercy of terrorists, we had no contacts, no intelligence sources, we didnt even know who the players were. We just stood there and took it…but not anymore.
