    SM,

I think your awesome, thats enough reason for the Jihadi fucks to kill you anyway. because progressive thinkers and almost any body with independent though is clearly a distraction to the message of Allah.A message, according to them, few can actually deliver it. The rest are infidels.

Its a smart move trying to kiss some ass, but i don’t think they give you a chance to anyway. besides who exactly are sucking up to here? i hate those mother fuckers.i really do.

Ive read your blog for years and this piece are writing is so offensive to the love people feel for Mohamed Saw. I think you needing to write like this and your attempt at trying to make people that love Mohamed Saw look stupid, really means you need to seek the help of a mental health doctor. Very sad, I will miss reading your blog and I hope you do find peace in your life.

Sigh…I don’t know what 2 say…make an honest woman of someone and then divorce her?…eh dah? malak ya habibi?

And I don’t know why you wrote this post exactly…it serves no purpose that i can see

U r still sitting on that fence…one day ur gonna fall Humpty Dumpty

Still rebelling against Mommy..don’t u get tired of that? it’s tedious frankly

Still seem confused about who u r? Middle Eastern Egyptian or American Western wannabe..all of those posts about the American election that continues to fascinate u

Muslim or Non-practicing muslim or just rebellious anti-religious muslim in name only…el ird wuha meen bizabt?

Ur smarter than this…better than this…and u shouldn’t be so damn pessimistic even if it is the common malady of all Egyptians these days…

This post can be interpreted 2 ways…look at the comments of 1 and 3…I’m not sure what 2 make of it…but snap out of it already habibi…and figure out who u want 2 be…and just be him…it’s not that complicated

    1. It’s sad you even have to include the disclaimer. It seems like a very serious request wrapped in a tongue-in-cheek tone.

    2. Comment #4 is interesting. The guy’s a good writer and seems bright (“malady?”), but likes 2 write using teen shorthand. And there’s nothing wrong with following an election in another country — even, gasp, America. Much of the world world is interested in and affected by US policy. … and Humpty Dumpty? Isn’t that a western literary reference? Stop obsessing about the west, yo.

    3. The mere fact that this is on facebook indicates that this is not to be taken seriously.

    4. But let’s say it were published elsewhere, someplace with more credibility. And let’s say it said described Mohammad in a less-than-flattering way. People may be offended, and they’re entitled to their feelings. But here, at least — in western cultures — people have to tolerate language they find “offensive.” Our constitutions guarantee free speech, not good taste.

i think we should stop making judgments about each other. i haven’t been following this blog long enough to figure out what the writer’s religion, but frankly i don’t care. If we are to move forward first we must accept differences on how we understand our values, heritage and yes religion as well.

I think Islam is a great religion most people in Egypt and the Arab world will tell you that. But those very people know almost nothing about Islam. you know why? its because they have been taught to shut their mind and accept any thing a minister will tell them by face value. otherwise they will be perceived as weak Muslims with a hesitant faith. Thats what turns people off. if you don’t believe me go to any mosque and watch people sleeping during friday sermon (khutba), and on your way out ask the those who were awake what the minister was talking about. Few will tell the right answer because it became more of habit to go pray rather than a time for you to reflect on your faith and discuss your faith freely. and since no body is responding ministers started to have conversations with themselves which lead to a more weak and boring messages we listen to every week.

All this because we learned not to discuss our religion freely. when u read about the Islamic golden age you will find that people were debating core issues in Islam to the extent that one of the biggest Islamic figures at that time and till now allowed foreigners to translate Quraan in their own language during prayers.

we forgot that tolerance is in the essence of Islam.

And yes America is better than us. At least you can start a business without having to pay a bribe or suck up to officials. and thats only one of many advantages Americans have and we don’t.

Khaled…Islam is indeed a great religion and u r right..most muslims unfortunatley are not educated enough in their religion and just believe whatever they hear or see on the satellite channels which tend to present one or a few viewpoints of how Islam should be practiced. Dialogue among muslims is limited and fear mongering due to the geopolitical agenda is rampant. SM is born into a muslim family…of course only God knows what is in his heart..but his comments go back and forth…read his previous blogs…it frustrating because I am sure he is better than what is fed by the global media machines…there r insane extremists on either side of these debates.

He’s a v. intelligent young man but so full anger at times…understandable as Egypt is at a turning point in it’s modern history…and colonialism in the Middle East is back…with religion being used to fuel the fires by both sides.

I am American, but I’ve been to Egypt and yes it’s a difficult country to have to function in. But in America we have our own problems, poor are very poor for such a rich nation, middle classes are taxed to death and like all other countries now, the rich are just getting richer. There is no heaven on earth. You can go from rags to riches here but it isn’t as easy as it once was. And to get a good job here, it is all about who you know. Don’t kid yourself you need wastas here too.

I know that when I was in Egypt all I kept being asked was how to get out. Egypt is a rich nation but the resources and wealth are misallocated with the bulk of the population not sharing in wealth.

I don’t know what circles you are hanging in. That is not as I see things here.

And yes, there IS heaven on Earth.

“middle classes are taxed to death”
Anonymous, you should go to Sweden, than you can say you are taxed to death.

“and like all other countries now, the rich are just getting richer. ”
And it was so much different else when – during middle ages? during Safavid era? during Ottoman empire? before second world war? in the communist russia? You want perfect society and that is not possible.

i agree on what khaled has written
    and i say
    learn about it
ask religious isla, people about islam
u’ll know the meanings of tolerance And love
    4 your info
    some of our family
    grandfather’s relatives
    are christians
    and u know what?
    we r like brothers
and i was hoping 2 marry their girl
    if she accept :)
    so know about islam first
    read the holly qur’an
    then make your judgements
just if u r open minded people
about the doddles that insults the prophet mohamed
    well
if some one some how some where
    make such athing
the whole world will be very angry
    and stuff like that
    but u know what
    it’s arule in our religion
that we accept all religions and all prophets
and when we talk on them
we talk respectively or we shut up
    beause
they are prophets sents 2 us by god
if u link the terrorism with islam
    well
i can tell u stories i had heard
    actually happened
    among the years
then u can say that the whole world are terrorists !!!!
    did u get the point??
u must know the terorism is not in our religion
even who is terrorist in our religion (if found)
    have 2 ways 2 choose :
stop that at once and be anice man

if he refused he will have judgement

    so as u can see

    security is here
    love is here

i hope u get my point of view mixed with truth

    my love

Wouldn’t the term “sand-nigger” be more poinent than “sand-monkey”.

How about a joke? Here goes.

What does an apple and the “prophet” Mohammed have in common?

Answer: They both look great hanging from a tree!

Comment # 14 you are a bitch , you will be toasted roasted and grilled on the fires of of hell”Jahanum” along with bitch niggas like u .Islam teaches us respect even to u.In my opinion u deserve none. Why didn’t read a book or drink water or excersise or whatever instead of posting that hateful comment. And that goes out to all of u dissrespectful ignorant bitches out there. What did the prophet do to u?? nothing so leave him alone and if u are acting so hard why don’t u meet up with me and I’ll show u what’s up.The funny thing after the Jews rule the middle east ,christ & elmahdi come down,Islam rules everywhere and the other signs of the end of time. There will be a judgement day in which what u r saying right now isn’t funny , u r naked weak ,lame, scared out of ur mind in front of the lord. And he is not even looking at u.I ask for forgivness from the lord for me and ya’ll because judgement day is for REAL,doesn’t include so called freedom of speech ,and hell it sure isn’t funny.
    See then,
    May the lord forgive all
One angry Muslim who will fuck u up
