There is a reason why I love camera phones

They allow you to take pictures like this one.

    (h/t Isis )

And people called us liars and exaggerators when we said that the police is the one doing the damage to their equipment to claim that the people are violent and out of control!

hmmph

Maybe he’s just cleaning the windshield with his shoes?

  2. bob Says:

Aren’t they violent and out of control?

  3. anna Says:

they’ll say it’s photoshopped especially since the windshield looks intact and the fact that the people in the background seem completely oblivious to this odd sight.

  4. Adam B. Says:

Not that I doubt that the police might do something like what you say, but it looks like they’re fitting some sort of extra windshield…

  5. anna Says:

yeah Adam, you could be right and it would explain why the people don’t look particularly bothered.

also why not take a followup shot a second later to show the damage IF that is the case (no one opposite seems to be aware that they are being photographed). I hope people aren’t resorting to dirty tactics against the police because that would mean that they’ve lost the plot.

  6. Don Cox Says:

I agree with the theory that they are fitting a polycarbonate windshield. It’s a pity there isn’t a higher resolution image available.

  7. Don Cox Says:

Enlarge the image to 640×480 and apply a sharpening filter. It then becomes clear that they are attaching an extra shield.

There seems to be one already in place on the door.

  8. Noa Says:

They may be stupid, but I can’t imagine they would be that stupid to kick in a windshield with their faces down like that so that glass would fly up in their eyes. I have to agree with the above theories.

  9. Jane Says:

I agree. They are replacing the windshield. You can follow the white paint splatters on the hood all the way up and under the original windshield.
Let Isis know, won’t you SM? Credibility is important.

  10. Jane Says:

Sorry - that’s paint under the new windshield and on top of the original windshield.

  11. Alif Says:

Why would a green car have white paint?
Why would there be paint on the windshield?

Is that paint or fractures beginning to crawl?
Is it paint or is it reflection of light?

Why would fitting a shield need kicking the middle of the surface instead of hammering (even if by foot) on the connection points in the frame?

Kicking while facing like they do shouldn’t't be a problem with the direction of applied force and their faces being far and positioned like that.

Besides, who said anything about Central Security forces being smart?

If the soldiers were indeed smashing the windshield why should the people be bothered? It’s not that they’re not used to seeing similar behaviour from state officials daily?

On the other hand, the act that they are watching is indicative of something unusual; which the plain sight of CS vehicle isn’t.

Adam, for another photo that could be interpreted in many ways, see my comment on a previous post here.

  12. Alif Says:

I meant “On the other hand, the fact that they stopped to watch[...]“

  13. Jane Says:

Why would a green car have white paint?
Why would there be paint on the windshield?

Are you serious? Angry crowds throw paint all the time in order to obstruct the driver’s view. It’s common enough in about every riot you see worldwide. You weren’t really serious, were you?

  14. Alif Says:

Jane, I’m serious as far as my locality is concerned, and as far as I know, this technique isn’t common here as it may be elsewhere. It’s good though.

The colour and contour just don’t look like paint splashes.

  15. ito Says:

To me it looks like they are balancing on one foot on the lower frame trying to fit the windshield in. But to be honest I only looked carefully after reading the other comments. At first I was inclined to believe what SM was saying. Now I don’t know.

  16. Rani Dababneh Says:

    lol nice :)
