Where do we go from here?

Watching the news channels in the US this morning, I am both amazed and amused by their inability to deal with the Obama win. It's like the old song lyrics go: "The Battle is done, and we kinda won, so we sound our victory cheer. Now tell me, where do we go from here?"

CNN is still a cornucopia of holograms and colors, with them still stressing over the number of senate and house seats whose ballots haven't been counted yet, and getting the right amount of popular votes for each candidate, because while it was important to let McCain know that he lost, it's even more important to twist the knife, because, otherwise, where is the fun in that?

MSNBC , on the other hand, has calmed down a little bit since yesterday cry-a-thon (seriously, news anchors were crying from Joy. So much for media unbiasedness), and are now getting down to the business of "Who will be in an Obama government", and arguing over every hypothetical appointee- even though Obama didn't choose anybody yet. Bush is so not mentioned anymore I think he should like bomb somebody, as if to remind the people that he is still around, and has 2 more month in office, during which he can still kind of do damage. Come on Bush, be a maverick: Bomb Vietnam or something. They will never see it coming!

A brief switch to the land of BET (that's Black Entertainment Television for you, whitey) has shown a a talk show where the host was asking a number of very well dressed Black folks what they should do to help the first black President, and one of them said that they now have to become more responsible, better husbands and wives, make sure that their kids stay in school and get an education,so that Obama can have- and I am not even kidding here- a "grassroots army of supporters" ready to come to his aid when he needs it. And that's when I switched the channel, because if you were waiting on a President from your same ethnicity to make sure your kids get an education, for no other reason than have them become soldiers for his cause, then, ehh, I don't even want you to vote. Nothing personal, You just don't sound all that well in the head to me.

And finally- and I have kept the best for last- Fox news. Oh Fox news. Watching Brit Hume yesterday referring to himself as a "Child of the civil rights movement" just made me fall off my bed and into the floor laughing my ass off. Way to Go Brother Brit. And then this morning they had Karl Rove over to explain to them what happened: The news anchor asked bewilderingly "we always thought the country was center right, is this no longer the case?", to which Karl assured him that it is the case, by stating that Obama's policies of "cutting taxes for 95% of the american population" and "not having the government in complete control of health care" are both right-wing positions, and that's what won him the election. So Obama is a right-winger now? And here I thought he was a socialist communist godless muslim. My bad. So, I guess, for all you right wing people out there, Hurray for us. One of us just became President. Let's break out the champagne.

As for Palin, my dear lovely Palin who I will miss so much (and yes, I still have a crush on her: A beauty queen who runs shit in her own state, likes having kids -i.e. screwing- and her hobbies include shooting wolves from Helicopters? I WANT THAT!! Any Junior Palin's out there? I am single, baby. Hit me up), there is nothing on her since she last appeared crying yesterday. Whether she is the future of the republican party, or the next White Oprah, we don't know, but I know that she shouldn't run in a national election again. As this father of a friend of mine said to me yesterday "Palin..good for erections..bad for elections". Wise words from a wise man, one that we all could learn from.

And last, I leave you with this average Obama Voter, who will most likely hate him once he actually has to govern the mess that is the USA today.

And if you are curious why she will hate him, just watch this video, and just wait for the day when Black voters will turn on Obama and say things like "well, you know, he is half-white!"

Until that day comes, my friends, smoke'em if you got'em.

Of course you are right, in two years or so many voters who voted for Obama will either say that they never supported him, some will say that they were mislead and some will claim that they are republican. I talked with a black girl who said that she is voting for Obama because “she wants a change” (btw she is working in Canada). I looked at her and thought about Iran and all these people who in 1979 wanted “a change” and cheered for Khomeini.
However, there is one bright light on the horizon for the States- nobody can say now that US people are racists ;-)

  2. ella Says:

forgot to mention - this girl I talked about had scant idea about Obama program, liked his voice and overall her main reason for voting was “I want change, any change” plus (living and working in Canada) she also hated “war in iraq”. But that’s US voters for you :-(

Aaaaaaaaaaanyways. It’s been a fun election, and I’m quite glad!

Well, from now we go into application I guess. Voters have set the bar incredibly high up - too high for any candidate. He will have a lot of expectation management to do; most probably by blaming the previous administration (rightfully or otherwise).
In the same time, his followership seems so devoted that I think they will cut him a lot of slack, even if he underperforms.

Which is unlikely though - apparently, Barack Obama is a semi-God.

    * You watch BET? (rofl….)

  6. Ken Price Says:

Barak Obama has the worst of all possible outcomes: his party controls the legislature and the executive, so he cannot blame the Republicans for anything that goes wrong; and given the state of the economy, things will probably get a lot worse before they get better.

And, if Obama tries to raise taxes, as promised, the economy will really tank. In the 30’s, Herbert Hoover raised taxes from 25% to 50% and brought on the “Great Depression”. The policies advocated by Obama might have the same result.

I’ve been thinking. All of this talk about how Obama is an African American, but really only by his skin color/genes. He grew up and was raised by white people. And, in a prety conservative city/state. He even mentioned how he was shaped more by his father’s absence. Kind of reminds me of how children who grew up adopted think of their adopted parents as their ‘real’ parents moreso than their genetic parents.

    http://obamacrimes.com/

From all that I have learned about this case, of which many believed was an urban legend and is not, is that Obama is going to now have to back his claim on being a “Natural Born” Citizen.

If he is, all stays as is.

If he is not, he will not be able to be elected as President of the USA. The reasion being, that IF he is not a “Natural Born” Citizen, the electors in the states that elected him cannot legally vote for him when the Electorial College meets. The only legal vote the electors will be able to cast is for McCain.

Mr. Bergs case was tossed out of Federal Court with the reason being “lack of standing”. “Lack of Standing” meant the case he brought had no affect on him. That was because Obama was running for President. Now that Obama has passed the FIRST step to being elected as President of the USA, it does affect him, as well as, all Americans.

So after this historical night in our country, we learn that there is a question of whether or not Mr. Obama is a “Natural Born” Citizen.

Justice Souter is justice at Supreme Court with Berg vs. Obama

Here is how he ruled in the Bush vs. Gore case:

In 2000, Souter voted and dissented along with the three other liberals in Bush vs. Gore to allow the presidential election recount to continue while the conservatives voted to end the recount, making Bush the president.

Jeffrey Toobin wrote in his 2007 book “The Nine” of Souter’s reaction following Bush v. Gore:

“Toughened, or coarsened, by the their worldly lives, the other dissenters could shrug and move on, but Souter couldn’t. His whole life was being a judge. He came from a tradition where the independence of the judiciary was the foundation of the rule of law. And Souter believed Bush v. Gore mocked that tradition. His colleagues’ actions were so transparently, so crudely partisan that Souter thought he might not be able to serve with them anymore. He seriously considered resigning. There were times when David Souter thought of Bush v. Gore and wept.”

Due to the way Justice Souter felt after Bush v. Gore, I truely believe Justice Souter would have dismissed this case altogether if everything was fine with Obama’s Citizenship Status.

All information about this case has been posted to the Facebook group “Berg vs. Obama”.

I hope that what you mean by “suck it up” is to behave graciously, and offer your best advice on how to implement the best part of the legitimate goals of the new administration.

America can have only one President at a time. That President needs genuine advice from everybody because this country is not homogenous. This President needs to be disabused of the notion that certain of his noisy, opportunistic followers know anything whatever about running a country. If he’s honest within himself, he already knows that, and will be receptive to new information. If not, he will crash and burn, which would not be good for us.

Someone wasn’t watching the VP debates. On the world stage, yes she’s dumb. Willfully ignorant, in fact.

Being governor of a state with a population of 600,000 with the added bonus of oil tax revenue so great they can give each resident a US$3000 check every year is one thing. Potentially being the leader of the free world and the most powerful individual on the planet is quite another. The woman was entirely unqualified for the job. Period.

Even on election day Faux News was still pretending that McCain could win. Reviewing the individual state stats and recent histories at realclearpolitics.com at noon PST on Nov 4th it was obvious to me that Faux News was like watching a Baghdad Bob broadcast.

CNN on the other hand was somewhat comical on the 4th…The pundits were quite certain that Obama would win but could not announce that fact until the West coast polls closed. They announced about one minute after those polls closed.

As it turned out, crystal balls are probably more accurate than Faux News. So, good luck with your political predictions if you are a Faux News Fan.

  57. JAS Says:

And tedders: You are a moron who posts dumb-ass propaganda that has been debunked at every website where people actually think with clear minds.

  58. tedders Says:

Such unqualified hostility JAS, your guy won why so pissed off? If your need to find someone who believes “dumb-ass propaganda” I suggest you direct your attention to yourself and your fellow “hope/change” crowd, you’ll figure out you’ve been duped soon enough.

In the meantime I suppose you aren’t man enough or smart enough to admit that the US Supreme Court Justice David Souter has indeed informed Philip J. Berg, the lawyer who brought the case against Obama, to respond to the Writ of Certiorari (which requires the concurrence of four Justices) by December 1. At that time, Mr. Obama must present to the Court an authentic birth certificate, after which Mr. Berg will respond.

For a schedule of the docket United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit that will be hearing the response you can go to these links:

    http://origin.www.supremecourtus.gov/docket/08a391.htm

    http://origin.www.supremecourtus.gov/docket/08-570.htm

Read it and weep asswipe! Regardless of the validity of the claim or the importance of the courts decision, the fact is that on December 1st Obama will have to respond to the court. I’d like you to point out exactly where the, “dumb-ass propaganda that has been debunked at every website where people actually think with clear minds” comes into play with my posting of the suit here at SM, where’d you get your law degree?

Hopefully, having the documents received by that date will prevent a major crisis which would be caused by having a person acting as president who is not qualified to be president. The ramifications of this would be enormous - our military would have no Commander-in-Chief, our laws if they required the president’s signature to be law, would be null and void.

If Obama truly isn’t eligible for the office I think it will be a fiasco and set the reputation of the US back, on the other hand if he is proven ineligible he’ll have no one to blame but himself. Obama will most likely just ignore the Writ of Certiorari, seems a great start for his Presidential career doncha’ think?

Why hasn’t he released his records? Seems a simple thing to do. Instead he spends hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the American public in the dark about his past. Doesn’t seem to bid so well on the trust and hope change rhetoric of recent days past.

I hope not. Country is in no danger to be without President and Commander-in-Chief even for a second. Should this claim pan out, which I doubt, runner-up will take Obama’s place.

Alternatively, Bush may continue to lead country until courts appoint suitable replacement. That would be most ironic. It is impossible for me to imagine looks on Lib’s faces. Priceless.

    Guess what will happen next?

    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

You will continue to believe any stupid propaganda and claims from Baghdad Bobs, Berg, Corsi, Andy Martin, Faux News, et al, and the rest of us will be laughing at your foolishness.

  64. Marie Claude Says:

Leo, a palin “mulette” of course

  65. RocketRay Says:

At that time, Mr. Obama must present to the Court an authentic birth certificate, after which Mr. Berg will respond.

Sheesh, this again? The State of Hawaii has produced his official, authentic birth certificate already. The man was born within the United States of America. Period.

Even if he wasn’t (like John McCain) he would still be a United States citizen by right of his mother and thus eligible to run for the highest office in the land.

Get over it. Your guy lost fair & square.

  66. tedders Says:

JAS. the factcheck, org you use to argue there isn’t a hearing on 12-01-08 is website that is a division of the Annenberg foundation. Check your facts …

Are you familiar with Obama and William Ayers connection to the Annenberg foundation? Do some real research and see where your getting your information from. Barack Obama was a founding member, chairman, and president of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which was also funded by the Annenberg Foundation. Sound like an unbiased source of information? And you use the term Faux News! Priceless!! :-D

    From their own website:

“The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state and federal levels.

The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the Annenberg Foundation.”

    http://terry136.wordpress.com/2008/09/10/factcheckory-the-annenberg-foundation-and-barack-obama/

A little bit about Mr. Annenberg, the founder”

“While serving as Editor and Publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Mr. Annenberg saw the need for a publication for teenage girls and, in 1944, established Seventeen Magazine. In 1953, as a result of his belief that television’s growth would create a demand for more information on the part of viewers, he established TV Guide as a national publication.”

That pretty much is enough for me to know what kind of organization it is, I think the two operative words here are. “Seventeen Magazine”. That’s your source JAS. Who’s laughing now? ;-)

JAS, you’re such a light weight, you get your information from the huffington post and KOS daily and foundations set up by the creator of Seventeen Magazine.
If anyone isn’t laughing at you it’s because they’re either teenaged girls ordelusional for “hope/change” like you. Now that we;re all through snickering at your “facts” from the Annenberg foundation factcheck.org, let’s review what is actually fact before you go off on another name calling emotional, “lying liar liars all lies about my messiah you liars” rant.

It is not stupid propaganda that the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has on it’s docket for December 1st, 2008, the following:

    No. 08-570
    Title:
    Philip J. Berg, Petitioner
    v.
    Barack Obama, et al.
    Docketed: October 31, 2008
Lower Ct: United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
    Case Nos.: (08-4340)

Do you still believe that is propaganda? Do some actual research instead of drinking Kool Aid. Go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit website and check the docket agenda for 12-1-08. Use multiple sources, it’s probably not wise to use “factual” websites founded by William Ayers but use your own judgement and look around from real sources of information, ones that end with a .gov or .edu are usually better than ones that end with a .org or .com.

Again (and who knows why I have to hold your hand like a kindergartener) I don’t know, nor do you know about the validity of the alleged charges, neither of us are lawyers. At least I’m not and it would seem intuitively obvious to most that you certainly aren’t. What we do know is that there is a hearing (is that the right term?) on 12-1-08 that Barack Hussein Obama will have to respond to. If you can prove that is not a fact I’m all ears. If you want to rant and rage about the falseness of the charges or the injustice or the treachery, then I suggest you offer you services to Obama’s legal team on the day of the hearing. Until then keep your childish name calling rhetoric between yourself and the voices in your head.

I reiterate, I don’t think this will go anyplace, I don’t think Obama will be proven to be ineligible for the Presidency, this post was about the election so I posted the facts about the hearing that I had found on other news sites, not discussion boards, then you proved your intelligence and rational by name calling, ad hominem attacks, temper tantrums … But the fact remains that there is a hearing …

  67. Valerie Says:

“Sheesh, this again? The State of Hawaii has produced his official, authentic birth certificate already. ”

No. They specifically refused to do so, because no request from either the person or the family had been made. Then, the governor sealed the record.

  68. leo Says:

“… he (Obama) would still be a United States citizen by right of his mother and thus eligible to run for the highest office in the land.”

While first part is true, the second part is true only if Obama were born US citizen and not naturalized. Typically it would mean Obama had to be born on American soil (US proper, US possession, US military base, …) in order to be able to run for position of POTUS.

  69. tedders Says:

    From another web discussion:

I want to make the following points:
    1) What has been filed is a Petition for a Writ of Certiorari (Cert Petition). The Writ of Certiorari is not a “process”, it is a “writ from a higher court to a lower one requesting a transcript of the proceedings of a case for review”.
2)The Cert Petition can be granted or denied. Rule 10 of the “Rules of the Supreme Court of the United States” offers criteria for granting of a writ.
    http://www.supremecourtus.gov/ctrules/2007rulesofthecourt.pdf

    3) A minimum of four Justices must agree to grant the petition.
    4) Response to this petition must be filed by December 1, 2008.
    4) The DNC does not appear to be a a party to the petition.

  70. Roman Kalik Says:

Even if he wasn’t (like John McCain)

Actually, John McCain was born in Panama Canal Zone, which was US territory at the time (and remained so until 1979). Thus, saying that John McCain was born outside the US is a mistake - an honest mistake, really, but a mistake nonetheless.

  71. Mark Says:

    @ 29 leo

what a stupid pathetic wanker you are! To even mention the name Palin after this race! She is and was an insult to the world! …Of course the wohole press are all jerks who dared to ask her an intelligent question! She will be nothing more than a very short P.S. in history and nothing more!

2012 will be Obama / Jindal that’ll rock!!!

  72. Marie Claude Says:

    2012 Romney /Obama

certainly not Palin, cuz Romney can’t stand her

  73. tedders Says:

Let’s see, Sarah Palin, a mother of 5 (that put’s here above 90% of the population IMHO), small town city council member, mayor of the same small town, chairperson of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004, first female governor of Alaska with a population of 683,478 and the youngest person elected to the position. Ran for the Republican Vice Presidential position with John McCain and got 46.2% of the votes and you call her an insult to the world? You’re the wanker Mark! Compared to her accomplishments are yours worth a mention? … Didn’t think so!

  74. Obama 08 Says:

I’m back…I was away for 3 months making sure Obama Barry got elected. You said it would never happen tedders & all you Republican right wingers. But you must give him kudos because he won fair & square. Jews will not rule the world after all. They will come darn close, but they wont run it. Hello Israel lobby & hello Obama…

  75. Mark Says:

    @ tedders

..Did I speak to you? yeah the GOP blogtrolls, or better said the Palin wankers are trying themselves as revisionists. …she got 46,2% …. yeah you jerk… she would have made not even half of that on her own, representing the morons and bigott red necks Americans!

..Even good ol McCain has realized that she was the biggest blunder in American history for his race. She came last in his gracious concession speech… dont ask why!

For all the ones, (except the trolls) who still did not realize how damnn stupid and retarded this broad is, listen to the prank call from “President Sarkozy” again! The guys from Montreal gave her at least 6 hints she should have found out on her own that the whole thing was a joke! She bragged about her good relationship with the Canadian officials and then she does not even know the name of the Canadian Prime Minister… ! come one! The average 9 year old knows more than she does!

Obama made a real good joke about her in his NYC Smith dinner speach: …You know what I like about the Waldorf Astoria Hotel? …From the doorsteps you can see right to the Russian tea room… !

  76. Valerie Says:

“But you must give him kudos because he won fair & square.”

That little talking point doesn’t fly.

    fraud in the caucuses

    foreign money

    voter registration fraud

    campaign jettisoned basic anti-fraud precautions

Anti-fraud tools available, easy to use

Our real protection is not that the election was free of fraud: it is that, if the Obama administration does not perform well in office, we will throw them out in 4 years. If they do perform well in office, we will throw them out in 8 years. In addition, we will have interim elections at the 2 and 6 year marks, which could greatly restrict the Obama administration’s ability to advance its agenda.

  77. tedders Says:

Fair or not I’ve already congratulated Obama and his supporters, he’s President for all of us now, including me. I hope he can do everything he said he would do to make America safe and strong, if not, ‘06 is right around the corner and ‘08 isn’t far from there. He made a lot of promises, let’s see which ones he can keep now that he bears the responsibility on his shoulders. Seems to me the situation looks a bit different from the rarified air of being in command.

    “@ tedders
    ..Did I speak to you?”

Well, you know Mark, it is a public discussion forum … maybe you should have whispered!! LOL What were those accomplishments of yours your so keen on comparing to Palin’s?

    We’re waiting … ;-)

  78. Karen Says:

    @ 74 Hello Rahm Emannuel :)

  79. tedders Says:

“..Even good ol McCain has realized that she was the biggest blunder in American history for his race. She came last in his gracious concession speech… dont ask why!”

Because he saved the best for last? Because he wanted that to be the last thing so the audience would remember it the most?

  80. leo Says:

    tedders,

Do you really think conversation is possible?

    I admire your optimism.

  81. tedders Says:

“Do you really think conversation is possible?”

Ha! I’ve got know it all pre teens who are smarter than the trolls here, it’s too fun to turn their baiting around and have it muck up what they thought were real and logical points. It’s not really so much a conversation with them here as it is a warm up or practice in stewardship and guidance with my 9 and 10 year olds! Even trolls serve a purpose in the world!!

The real fun is dragging their childish views, or more precisely, “feelings”, because there is no real cognitive reasoning that goes along with them, out in the open for everyone else to see, they read like a point for point list of what Katie Couric, Tom Brokaw and Charlie Gibson told them to think. They usually aren’t aware of what’s going on until it’s too late. That’s all I’m shooting for Leo!! ;-)

  82. leo Says:

    tedders,

If those are kids, chances are they will grow up and get smarter.
If those are adults, not much hope is there.

Good luck to you in any case.

  83. tedders Says:

I’m afraid there’s probably not much hope, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun sometimes!!! Thanks Leo!!

  84. Becky Says:

Karen-(I’m not whispering, nor am I yelling :)
You’re right. The one I posted was funny for a little bit, but ended up being kinda stupid. SM posted a pre-voting guide from the Onion somewhere on his blog here..That was incredibly funny. Maybe SM would like to come back and visit? :)

  85. Mark Says:

To all the bad loser just a reminder again:

Obama has reached the best result sind Reagan 1984:

    - 8,3 Mio or 6,5% more votes than McCain

    - 53 % of total popular vote

so stop bullshitting about crap like voter fraud, Acorn asf. He sure doesnt need a GOP tilted Supreme Court like W. to steal the election from his opponent!

  86. Valerie Says:

Camille Paglia discovering that the Daily Kos version of what “conservatives” had been concerned about was …. not quite a fair rendition of the subject.
