30 thousand egyptians turn out for Officer’s funeral

The funeral of the killed assassinated dead egyptian border officer was attended by 30,000 of his countrymen, who according to al masry alyoum, turned the event into an anti-Hamas rally, shouting anti-Hamas slogans, and rightly stating that his blood is on Hamas' hands. Not that Hamas gives a fuck or anything, or any of its apologists either. Even Zeinobia, whom I usualy disagree with on almost everything except her obvious and admireable egyptian patriotism, is unhappy with the turnout, claiming that the government is using his death as anti-Hamas propaganda, while forgetting that -if that's true- it's only possible because Hamas killed the man in cold blood, while he was protecting the country. She raised the point that the egyptian soldiers killed by a mortar accidently shot by the IDF 2 years ago didn't get similar treatment, while forgetting that those ones were killed accidently, while the one who died just a few days ago was shot with the intent to kill, and is only the latest victim of Hamas routinely attacking our border and the people tasked with defending it when they try to do their jobs. Had Israel pulled even half of this shit, I would be the first person calling for some gold old fashioned egyptian-Israeli war, because then they would be clearly our enemies. Whether we like it or not, Hamas is acting like our enemy, and it's time we treat it as one!

I am sick of this bullshit pan-arabism and the racist anti-egyptian sentiment that only looks for an excuse to manifest itself. Its our fucking border, its our fucking sovereignty, we don’t get no thanks when we put our ass on the line and when we try to protect our ass, we get flamed. The last thing Egyptians need, whether they are smart enough to realize or not, is to be dragged into the swamp that is Gaza and the eternal war of arrogance and stupidity that is Israel/Palestine. Fuck off will ya? we have enough problems of our own.

  2. EgyptianKangaroo Says:

Hamas are wankers who just want the border to be opened so that they can run away from the mess they started.

Fellow Arabs, I know exactly how you guys are feeling in Egypt, since we in Lebanon,or half of us anyway, know too well the BS propoganda spewed by the bearded ones in the name of Arab pride and Honor. To them, being moderate or liberal is seen as bieng agents of the American/Zionist enemy. They rally their supporters by conjuring bad memories, raw emotion, cheap gimmicks, and rubbing salt in our wounds by using the Palestinian cause as a call to defend ourselves.
This does not justify the Isreali war machine, but one things for sure, the Iran/Syria axis along with its proxies must diminish if there ever will be peace and security, and this hopefully will come from the Arab street.

  5. lynne Says:

I feel so bad for this poor officer and his family. I had assumed at first that his death had occurred as an accident at the border crossing. To be shot down in cold blood is terrible.

  6. Nadavu Says:

The part about not liking Hamas was pretty strightforward, but I must admit I read the first half of this post 3 or 4 times and I still don’t get your criticism about the funeral. are you upset that the soldiers who were accidently killed 2 years didn’t get to have their funerals used as propoganda against this cause or another?

Yes Im sure none of them were sent by the Egyptian government

” it’s only possible because Hamas killed the man in cold blood, while he was protecting the country”

from who? starving civilians who want to escape being bombed . Wow what a hero. (and Im not condoning his death)

  8. Craig Says:

from who? starving civilians who want to escape being bombed .

Yeah… nothing bad has ever happened in other neighboring countries that allowed tens of thousands of armed Palestinians unrestricted access when they had to escape from trouble they started. Oh, wait…

  9. Zvi Says:

    @7

Protecting Egypt from HAMAS terrorists who want to use Egyptian soil as a base for terrorism? You bet he was protecting Egyptian territory.

HAMAS wants to control Egypt’s border with Gaza, which I’m sorry, is EGYPT’s prerogative. As for “starving civilians”, average Gazans have MUCH higher daily calorie intakes than most Egyptians living in Sinai, and are MUCH richer than most people in Rafah. Last time HAMAS invaded Egypt, Gazans weren’t buying up FOOD in Rafah. They bought large quantities of cigarettes and electronics. And they smuggled in tons of explosives, which are oh, so yummy to eat, you know.

Yes Im sure none of them were sent by the Egyptian government

As opposed to the people at anti-Egypt rallies in Iran, you mean?

I think Zeinobia needs a field trip to the Rafah Crossing and needs to leave her comfy home in Maadi or Mohandiseen or whatever nice cushy neighbourhood she lives in. Let her hang with the border guards and experience a day in the life of guarding Rafah Crossing. Girlfriend is living in a big bubble. All she does is criticize a president who although a big crook, at least was wise enough to keep his country out of wars for over 25 years.

She is writing like she is a Palestinian and not an Egyptian. She felt more sympathy for Gazans than the poor officer from Kafr El Sheikh which is a very poverty stricken, depressed area in Egypt. I saw the officer’s widow. He left behind 3 orphans. But I guess an Egyptian officer’s blood isn’t as valuable as a Ghazan’s. Shame on you! SHAME ON YOU ZEINOBIA!!!

The Egyptian government has enough on its hands looking after the needs of the EGYPTIAN PEOPLE. WE ARE A NATION OF 80 MILLION STRONG. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE OF PALESTINIAN DESCENT LIVING IN ISRAEL.

EGYPT IS FOR EGYPTIANS. WE ARE NOT AMERICA, EUROPE, CANADA or AUSTRALIA TO TAKE IMMIGRANTS OR REFUGEES. WE HAVE A LARGE ENOUGH POPULATION AS IT IS.

Frankly I watched a report online about an Israeli Arab couple that had a hard time finding daycare for their kid. You should see the house they are living in. Are people like this standing in solidarity with their fellow Palis. I wonder.

Why would we have to babysit the Palestinians. Let Jordan which is almost all Pali take them in and give them medical treatment. That bitch King Abdallah is married to a Pali and rules the Pali Jordanians. Why doesn’t he step up and broker a deal. Cuz he is a bitch that is too far up America’s A$$.

No such thing as united Arabs or Arabia. Each country is responsible for its own citizens.

Zvi: check out Egyptian Chronicles and let her know that she is deluded and that her fellow countrymen are more deserving of her posts than the groups that use religion for the sake of power, politics and control of the masses.
Egypt is the hollywood of the Middle East with all of the artistic talent coming from its shores.

  13. Zvi Says:

Regarding the Zuabis (the couple looking for day care for their child), the story on Israel’s Channel 10 news horrified many Israeli Jews, hundreds of whom telephoned the couple to offer their support. Other daycare centers in the area immediately sent enrollment offers to the family.

I don’t know how the Zuabi family is reacting to the situation in Gaza. Many Israeli Arabs are indeed upset. Others are just trying to go about their lives. Israeli Arabs are not required to serve in the IDF (though some do volunteer, and some serve with distinction), but the rockets raining down on Israel have occasionally killed Israeli Arabs too (an Israeli Arab construction worker was killed a couple of days ago).

I think that Israel has done a poor job of integrating many of its Arab citizens into society, though there are many successful Arabs in Israel, but alongside incidents like the one you describe, there are also cases where Israelis are working to help Arabs. Israel is no more a monolithic, uniform place than the Arab world. In certain ways, Israeli society, with all its schisms between different political groups, behaves like the Arab world in miniature LOL

That said, national Israeli Arab leaders have done an incredible amount of damage to the Israeli Arabs, and their extremist foolishness daily reinforces the very worst of the stereotypes about Israeli Arabs that exist within Israeli society. They have, all by themselves, set their people back at LEAST a decade simply through their zealous efforts to isolate their people and thus preserve their own power, combined with their efforts to court unrepentant, outright enemies of Israel even while these people were killing Israelis.

    Regarding Zeinobia:

Probably such a message should come from her fellow Egyptians. I’m afraid I don’t qualify! ;-)

Haha check out how “anonymous” tried to sick an Israeli against his own country woman who is exercising her right to freedom of speech and is calling her a traitor. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me. I can’t believe I am actually saying this, but agree with Zvi’s very diplomatic response.

sandmonkey, are you sure you would? or are you a scared monkey that simply worships / sucks up to the “boss” and is so pragmatic / strategic (hilarious when you emphasize in the above post, “when they try to do their jobs”) / lacking-in-courage-or-identity, always-a-chameleon that you resemble that poor little kid on the playground who gets bullied his whole life and pathetically becomes the little slave of every new bully to enter the scene (and of course…also thinks he’s dispensing good advice when he tells others that they have no chance against the bully and should just join his gang)…in other words, are you a scared pussycat sand monkey?

    hahaha

  16. deletion Says:

oh…and last question…isn’t it true that deep down, in your self-worth derived of course by a feeling of supreme rationality (especially when compared to the utter delusionality of those stupid hamas militants who have some weird notion of victory and haven’t accepted the safe pussyness - but safe!!! - of sandmonkey) that you feel so scared that you resent those who can practice such irrationality? and why can they practice it? is it because you are not wise…but scared?

I hope, if it hasn’t already, that Egypt will realize that Israel is a far better friend/neighbor than Palestine.

The Sinai was “occupied” by Israel, after Egypt lost it in 1973 (in a war Egypt started with a surprise attack). Guess what? Egypt signed a peace treaty in 1979 and those evil Israeli occupiers had pulled out never to return in 3 years. Despite the fact oil had recently been discovered there, at the time. Despite the fact Israel had to remove their own people who started settling there. Yes, those evil Israelis love aggression.

By the way, Egypt is like 30 years ahead of the other M.E. states in terms of diplomacy. But I keep wondering is why many otherwise reasonable people side with their “brothers” that happen to be murderous assholes.

Again, all I can hope is that some good comes of this tragedy.

  20. Sand Ape Says:

OMG, I remeber a time when the Zionist retrots were actually a little witty here. and not so blain and so lacking?

  21. leo Says:

    lasati @ 19,

    Just a correction.

Egypt lost Sinai in 1967 war. Then it tried to take it back in 1973 war and even partially succeeded at first. But by the end of the war everything was back to where it was before the beginning.

  22. Sand Ape Says:

@ lasati 19 who said: “But I keep wondering why many otherwise reasonable people side with their “brothers” that happen to be murderous assholes.

This is especially true on the other side of the fence as well…

    Takes one to know one!

  23. Adam B. Says:

    22. Sand Ape:

The thing is, “we” don’t take the sides of extremist, murderous assholes. We take the side of a legitimate state being attacked by it’s neighbours, while at the same time condemning a handfull of idiots trying to settle in lands that don’t belong to them.

You, on the other hand, obviously don’t bother with that kind of destinction…

  24. Sand Ape Says:

Not when this handful of idiots that you described can easily be stopped but isnt being stopped, on the contrary, IDF is very complicit in these crimes and promotes this illicit behavior (you know darn well) by sending lots of troops to protect the illegal settlements which is the main reason there is no peace. You yourself condoned the settlements until rockets stop being fired from Palestine into (again) occupied Palestine. Are you telling me one of the best equipped armies in the world can’t prevent a few settlers. Please, you know you are smarter than that!

  25. Sand Ape Says:

Dude I can feel the sincerity in your voice but you have to come clean…

More can be done, you guys are the bosses as you guys control how much toilet paper and cheese and crackers Gaza gets.

Please, imagine it was your sister in Gaza before your retort.

  26. Adam B. Says:

Sand Ape: On this issue I agree with you - Israel could do more to stop settlements in what is actually the state of Palestine as per the Partition Plan. The problem is that this would have no effect whatsoever when it comes to Hamas’ desire (and efforts) to “push Israel and every jew alive into the sea”. As long as this is the prevailing ideology amongst the palestinians, I’m not gonna be overly concerned about a few hundred settlers…

The fact of the matter is that Israel and Palestine have been at war for more than 50 years, and Palestine have effectively “lost”, at least this far. To the victor goes the spoils, as they say, and Israel has grown at the expense of Palestine. Bad judgement from a palestinian perspective, but unlike the old days, they actually stand a chance of getting back their old lands - all it takes is that they realize the situation they’re in and act accordingly. I’m confident that Israel ould (have to) play ball then…

  27. Sand Ape Says:

Adam B, one day, dont ask me how, Palestine might have the upper hand and will effectively do to Israel what Israel is doing to Palestine now. The works, including the shit hole security zones, dead Jewish pregnant stillborns at checkpoints and all out persecution of Jews. In retaliation for the heinous crimes against them, some Jews will fire bottle rockets and spit balls at the Palestinians, shouting death and extermination to all of Palestine. Therefore you are saying that you will condone the persecution of the entire nation of Israel because of the Jewish mourners pipe dream to eradicate Palestine?

    Sounds futile to me!

  28. Craig Says:

dead Jewish pregnant stillborns at checkpoints and all out persecution of Jews.

That’s an emotional red herring and you know it. Checkpoints don’t cause babies to be stillborn. Why don’t you blame cancer on the Jews, while you are at it?

  29. Sand Ape Says:

Excuse me your excellency Craig but you are very rude and ignorant. You have obviously been traumatized, mugged 40 times, versed in the art of denial and deception. Or else you really are blind deaf and dumb to pregnant woman losing their unborn babies due to 3 day hold ups at checkpoints. They don’t even let the dead babies cross for burial. At least be savvy and say it is because there is some legitimate reason for doing so. You used to be a little witty when Twosret used to end up whooping your ass good. That was so funny. You are delusional, you even think I am her or any Arab poster must have paid SM off with some oil money to have admin privilege’s on this blog.. But now you are just witless, with the typical weak retorts “Hey Blame the dead in Gaza on Israel while you are at it” or this one “You jack ass, get a life, our feces is cleaner than you,” ” Have you no brain, are you thick?”

Wow what intelligible retorts you and RK are producing. Try learning a thing or two from Adam or Eve lol.

Now hold your breathe and exhale and try your best with a typical Craig response. I am an over confident ignorant right wing Zionist neocon so take this !@#$ and That !@#$ lol

It’s great that 30,000 Egyptians turned out for this guy’s funeral… that they chanted anti Hamas slogans is meso meso…. but if they could have also passed out anti-semitica propoganda at the event as well and somehow blamed Hamas shooting him on the Zionists then I would have cheered at how patriotic our beloved Egypt is… Allahu Akbhar…

You do know every time you open your mouth, Hamas gets a few thousand more followers and Israel is bitterly condemned. Keep it up :)

  33. Adam B. Says:

Sand Ape, you really shouldn’t be the one to acuse others of condescending, rude or abusive comments - you excell at these, and as you might have noticed, people have a tendency to take you seriously only when you keep these faults to a minimum. I can only recommend that you try harder - discussions are so much more fruitfull when people aren’t swearing at each other…

As for your comment in 27.: I’m not sure how to interpret your words - are you saying that you wish for the day when the situation is reversed? I’m afraid that situation will never come to pass. Even if the arabs/palestinians should somehow gain a militarily superior position (unlikely in the extreme!), the situation would be nothing like the present. Hamas (and many arabs with them) are not interested in keeping the jews in check - their proclaimed goal is to eradicate the state of Israel and any jew living in lands that arabs for some reason consider theirs. If the military position was ever reversed, the jews would be facing genocide, not self-defensive action. That alone is enough to side with the jews in the current conflict, and the fact that you profess a wish for this situation is enough to label you unfit for normal discussion and reasonable thought…

  35. Sand Ape Says:

Thanks for the sincere lesson in rational ethics, but even you, by far the most intelligible poster here has insinuated from my comment that I wished the situation to be reversed. I simply only queried and asked are you saying that if the situation were reversed by some sort of miracle, are you then saying it will Ok to condone the persecution of the entire nation of Israel because of the Jewish mourners pipe dream to push the occupier Palestine into the sea??
There is a big difference here.

You are right though. It wont happen in our life time. But Jerusalem has been passed around quite a few times. Jews, Muslims and Christians have all conquered it at one point in history. It will probably go back into the Christians, Muslims and Jews hands ten times over again.

No big deal, so never say never!

  36. tedders Says:

“because of the Jewish mourners pipe dream to push the occupier Palestine into the sea??”

Uhm … I believe you are confused on the objectives and strategies of the opposing sides. If Israel wanted to push the Pals into the sea, they could do it, they don’t want to. The only reason Hamas doesn’t push all of Israel into the sea is because they’re a bunch of incompetent doofus’ who will never have the capacity or ability, if they could they would. That’s reason enough for the sane inhabitants of the world to side with Israel. It only makes sense. ;)

  38. Adam B. Says:

    35. Sand Ape: If I understand your comment right, you’re asking my opinion if the roles were EXACTLY reversed; that is, jews had a small part of the land, minimal military power, but insisted that the palestinians were to be wiped out and the state of Palestine dismantled, while the palestinians were in control of most of the land, were militarily superior, but still insisted that they could live in peace as neighbours and only used precision strikes against israeli military targets trying as best they could to avoid civilian israeli casualties…? In THAT case my sympathies would lie almost completely with the palestinians!

The roles are NOT reversed, though… I’m just hoping that some day they’ll meet at the middle.
